Let's not let Vice President Gore down...
...when he needs us. One of the problems I see is that when Al Gore spoke in January, 2006 (ACS) and laid out the framework for what he has written in his new book, "The Assault on Reason", it had almost NO coverage. This book needs to get covered. If the MSM won't, then blogs should push it.

One premise of the book is that Gore is perplexed and incredulous that the American people are tolerating and not questioning this administration's actions/abuses. One possible cause he sets out is that TV is a one way communication. Another premise is that TWO-WAY communication (such as the internet and blogs like this one provide) are the hope for the future...if "We, the people" use these avenues to save our democracy from government abuses.

3. The Assault on Reason is about us,
the Internet, the bloggers, the American People and our role in recapturing our democracy and restoring it to being based on a meritocracy of ideas, if we don't defend it, no one will, least of all television.

Whether you support Al Gore for President as I do or not, this book is powerful and you owe to your self and your families to read it.

Thanks for the thread Yvonne.

Kicked and recommended.

6. I am a third of the way through the Gore's Assault on Reason and
am annotating it with highlighters and so far almost every page is covered. It is a sensible, well- documented and powerful indictment of the GOPers, the press and the American citizens. The text is filled with quotes from "great men" of the ages which coincide with the points Gore is making. Al Gore is himself a "great man." I support him in whatever he chooses to do for the world. Jeb and Katherine and the obnoxious 5 on the Supreme non-Court have cost this nation, this world, this planet a price so grave and so unfathomable. My heart breaks to think of those who have died (especially the innocent Iraqi and Afghan children and infants) because Bush cheated Gore out of his rightful win.

8. Ahem... *Great People* of the ages --
Unless Hannah Arendt, Susan B. Anthony, and so on were just female-sounding pen names...

9. Go buy it at Costco!
$14.99 there, and if all of us bought it there, it would send a good message of our interest and remind them that they are a blue store for blue customers! I just picked mine up over the weekend there. :)

12. Al Gore is "letting the glory out"!
I also loved Al Gore's speech at Constitution Hall on January 6, 2006.

You can watch the whole speech here: http://www.acslaw.org/node/2096

You can also download the MP3 and put it on your iPod or burn a CD! :)

Bringing out a book helps Gore to take his message to a wider audience.

I thought Al was great with Larry King and Jon Stewart last week.

I hope many viewers feel inspired to go and buy the book! :)

"I've seen America in this campaign and I like what I see. It's worth fighting for and that's a fight I'll never stop.
As for the battle that ends tonight, I do believe as my father once said, that no matter how hard the loss, defeat might serve as well as victory to shape the soul and let the glory out."
-- Al Gore, December 13, 2000

"If (Al) was going to run in the future, of course I would support him. I think he'd be a fantastic president.
He already got a majority of votes of people in this country once, and so that says something."
-- Tipper Gore, June 13, 2006

13. Also important to beat back the attacks by corporate media.

They certainly don't let up on Gore no matter what he says or does. And the Democrats as a party don't seem to come out and defend those under attack the most.
