Fred Thompson = Bob Dole
Edited on Sat Jun-02-07 11:19 AM by Homer12

Old and Out-of-Touch with reality. He's lost already he'll get the Bob Dole Treatment if he's nominated.

1. The tainted voting machines won't care who he is.
He will get their vote.

2. A Law & Order fan posted recently
that the character Thompson played is her second favorite on the show, but that she can't stand his politics--they are too old and too conservative for her!

4. I agree about the politics but how could anybody
have any kind of positive impression of the character he played on L & O? All he ever did was grunt about three words per episode and stand around looking like he was about to belch.

6. I was surprised by the comment myself
most folks rank him far behind Steven Hill, who played the DA for ten years; some (myself included) rank him behind Dianne Wiest, who played the part for two years.

10. If you want to see asshole characters Thompson played, see his role on Roseanne
He was a complete jerkoff in that role.

14. Does anybody out there have video of this?
It would be a nice counterpoint to his crime-fighting, authority-figure persona. If people want to vote for Fred Thompson the TV personality, they might as well get the whole picture.

3. It will be interesting to see how Thompson does in the debates.....
My guess is: badly. On the other hand, how will we tell in that company? :eyes:

I was scared of Thompson at first, but I think he's just a sign of how desperate the GOP is for a candidate that doesn't stink up the place and can unify the Conservative vote. However, Thompson's got a trophy wife younger than his daughter (good-bye Christian Right vote), he is not respected in his home state for his performance as Senator (good-bye TN?), and he is a career lobbyist!!! (:puke:)

7. And if what I read here
about the production staff for Law & Order, he wasn't well liked by anyone on set--came off as a prima donna, would argue with the writers just when they were filming (protocol is you do that earlier in production), and came not knowing his lines, another big no-no.

12. I'm sorry, but you're wrong about his standing in Tennessee.
I live here.

People here continue to LOVE the man. Well, Republicans, most Independents and some Democrats continue to love the man.

I agree with you - he didn't do much as a senator - but that hasn't stopped the myth.

13. Sorry to hear that.
:( People do usually love their home state guy/gal, regardless of their worthiness. But something I read caused me to believe that was not the case with Thompson.

5. If rove and the republicans
had been able to get to the voting machines before President Clinton was elected, he would never had GOTTEN ELECTED. The vote would have been corrupted as it was in 2000 and 2004.

8. The Creature of the Black Lagoon reminds me more of Bush Jr. than of Dole
Dole, I think, had a core. TCFTBL, on the other hand, is an lazy guy and an empty shell who'll be easy to manipulate.

11. No he won't - he's getting the Reagan treatment.
I don't know where you live, but if it's in a red and/or purple state, please turn on local talk radio for half a day. You'll see why he worries me so very much.

If you're in a blue area, I don't expect you'd understand.

15. He is a a hack actor, a lawyer, a career lobbyist, and was a mediocre, lazy senator who
campaigned with a rented, red pickup truck and faux good ole boy act.He seems to have the full weight of the corporate media machine behind him. The last time one of these asshats came along look what we got stuck with. We should be very worried.
