Real Time Response: Who’s Gained from Tonight’s Debate?

Another successful performance was given by Biden who gained thirteen points and moved in the rankings from 6th to first place among tonight’s focus group participants. Biden received the strongest gain among women.

Joseph Biden found the magic pill when he spoke of truth telling as an important criterion for those who govern.

Twice in the debate, Biden used the words "truth telling," and when he did so, our responsdents reacted very favorably. There was an implied contrast to truth-telling by Democrats on the stage and the current Bush administration.

Biden was the Surprise Winner
Joe Biden came from behind last night and showed that he was the most engaging, and most interesting of the candidates.

We encourage people to take a real look at Biden's candidacy, which will be the site of the most engaging presidential debate of the campaign

A night for Obama and Biden
By Scot Lehigh, Globe Columnist | June 4, 2007

THERE WERE no big winners last night, but there were two figures who managed to stand out on a stage cluttered with candidates: Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

Of the second tier candidates, it was Biden's night. Biden was forceful -- and funny -- about letting gays and lesbians serve openly in the military. The candidate who seemed most knowledgeable about foreign affairs, he also spoke powerfully and passionately about establishing a no-fly zone to help end genocide in Darfur.

Like Obama's, Biden's was a performance certain to win him some notice.

Joe Biden - Joe had a really good night. He finally started to show why his supporters are so passionate about him. His answers on don't ask, don't tell, getting Osama, and especially Darfur were outstanding. Biden finally delivered a strong performance where he looked less like a senator, and more like a potential president. He gets major bonus points for talking about the need for publicly funded elections.

Analysts: Biden's performance strongest
POSTED: 1:49 a.m. EDT, June 4, 2007

Biden was "on fire," Democratic strategist and CNN contributor Donna Brazile said. Brazile said Biden's answers set him apart from the other seven.

CNN analyst J.C. Watts, a former Republican congressman, also thought the Delaware senator and chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, performed best.

"I don't think there was anyone who broke out, with the possible exception of Joe Biden," Watts said.

"I went there. I sat in the borders. I went in those camps. They're going to have thousands and thousands and thousands of people die. We've got to stop talking and act," Biden said of the conflict.

of any of the Dem or Repug candidates, but I don't always agree with him.

6. I don't either. But he is not afraid to stand up and fight for what he believes in
He doesn't play both sides of an issue.

To me that is extremely important in a candidate.

12. I agree -- did you see his appearance at the Iowa dinner?
He's DEFINITELY a fighter -- you wouldn't see him sitting out any "Swift Boat"-ish tactics on the part of the Rethugs ... He'd fight fire with FIRE.

8. He is the head of the Foreign Relations Committee
So it is only natural that news shows would want to hear what his committee is doing.

7. This is an unfortunate first quote
Edited on Mon Jun-04-07 02:42 PM by Zodiak Ironfist
"Biden was "on fire," Democratic strategist and CNN contributor Donna Brazile said. Brazile said Biden's answers set him apart from the other seven."

Nobody cares what Brazile has to say. When she was calling the shots, she lost the Presidency to a sock puppet by watering down the message and turning a great man like Gore into a "bore".

Nothing against Biden (who has a better voting record than many here give him credit for)...I just think that these paid-for Democratic operatives are overpaid skunks that should just shut the hell up and let the American people decide.

CNN was the only MSM posted.

15. Well now....Obama was the winner, Hillary was the winner, Edwards was the winner.
I guess it is just which site you visit as to which one was the winner. They are all good. And they strike fear in the republicans. Why do you think CNN is now throwing out the spew that the democrats main action was taking barbs at each other. That they are undecided on everything. As soon as you hear their poopoganda you know they are scared of the democrats. THEY ARE ALL WINNERS. THEY ALL HAVE GOOD IDEAS.

27. Brent Taylor-"Biden Talks too Much'
Have you actually listened to him speak or are you just repeating what you have heard?
In the Democratic Debates, his answers were more concise, and contained more information
than any other candidate on the stage. A debate is about information,it is not a contest about who has the best hair,or who is the snappiest dresser or who is the first woman to run or the first black to run.
He does not come off like John Kerry, he is more straight forward than Kerry.

25. You know who else talks too much?
Gore - on and on. When he was at the Senate, he wouldn't shut up.
Saw him on C-Span over the weekend giving a speech at a University, he only got 3 questions answered.

But, I love listening to him.
I love listening to Kerry.
I could listen to them all day.

It's sad that in this day and age a candidate has to talk in slogans.

26. It is
but thats what wins. Gore and Kerry had that problem. And so would Biden. And its the reason why someone like Fred Thomson and his one liners win over voters.
