21 things we used to hate about us
Think back six-and-a-half years ago to all the things we didn't like about America:
  • New Orleans — didn't like it
  • Habeas corpus — didn't like it
  • Twin Towers — didn't like 'em
  • Geneva Conventions — didn't like 'em
  • Separation of church and state — didn't like it
  • Lives of 3,500 American troops — didn't like 'em
  • Health of 25,000 non-fatal U.S. casualties — didn't like it
  • Lives of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis — didn't like 'em
  • Justice from the Department of Justice — didn't like it
  • EPA protections — didn't like 'em
  • Record surplus — didn't like it
  • Reproductive freedom — didn’t like it
  • Gay rights — didn’t like 'em
  • Economic equity— didn’t like it
  • Right to privacy — didn't like it
  • Freedom of Information Act — didn't like it
  • World regard for the United States — didn't like it
  • U.S. military readiness — didn't like it
  • Peace — didn't like it
  • Freedom from fear itself — didn't like it
  • Age of reason — didn't like it
Hard to believe that, in such a short time, one man could deal with all those problems. Think of what could be accomplished with four more years of Republican leadership?

1. I shudder to think of what 4 more years would look like.

2. Bush: 'Our Long National Nightmare Of Peace And Prosperity Is Finally Over'
WASHINGTON, DC–Mere days from assuming the presidency and closing the door on eight years of Bill Clinton, president-elect George W. Bush assured the nation in a televised address Tuesday that "our long national nightmare of peace and prosperity is finally over."

it's scary (or sad, really) just how accurate they were.

4. It goes beyond Party, imo.... 4 more years of ANY Neo-Con POTUS, Dem. or Rep.,
will do this country in. A genuine Liberal is needed now. An honest-to-God anti-war, pro-little guy LIBERAL.

No Republican or DLC-er should be elected to that office, imo, for about an eon, if ever again. The carnage has been stomach-turning. I want my country and my Constitution back. I want a chance at equality for ALL. I want universal Healthcare and state-of-the-art Public Schools. I want every child fed, protected, educated, and nurtured equally. I want everyone to be able to marry the person they love. I want every woman to have CHOICE. I want absolute seperation of Church and State. Will we get those things if there is a Neo-Con in office for 4 more years... even a Democratic one? NO. We will not.

A Liberal is needed to clean this mess up -- or at least START the clean-up.

5. I'd surely prefer a true liberal
And that's what we need -- with Al Gore or Russ Feingold as my dream candidates. Among those currently running, Edwards would be my choice.

But if the choice in Nov. 2008 is between a centrist Democrat and any Republican, I'm stickin' with the Dems.

7. The best President we never had: Mario Cuomo.
Can you imagine if he'd gotten an 8-year term as our president?

*sigh*

6. We didn't have economic equity before Bush either
Let's not blind ourselves.

8. Relatively speaking, we did
There's been a concerted effort under Bush to dramatically shift economic benefits to those who need them least.
