QuinnipiacPoll: Hillary leads Dems by double digits, bests all Republicans, Edwards tanking......
Edited on Wed Jun-13-07 10:03 AM by SaveElmer
Hillary 35
Obama 21
Gore 18
Edwards 9

General Election matchups

Clinton 45 Guiliani 44
Obama 42 Guiliani 42
Gore 45 Guiliani 43

Clinton 44 McCain 42
Obama 43 McCain 41
Gore 44 McCain 41

Clinton 46 Thompson 39
Obama 46 Thompson 34
Gore 49 Thompson 37

Edwards having dropped to fourth they apparently didn't do general election matchups for him

"It's still early, but Sen. Hillary Clinton just keeps rolling along. Either something - like Iowa - will dislodge her or else she's the nominee. Should we start asking about vice-presidents?

1. Meaningless national poll based on name recognition. And Gore's not running.

2. Results mirrored in recent state polls...
Edwards tanking in New Hampshire where he is close to dropping into 5th behind a man not running and Richardson...same scenario in Texas...and can't get above the MoE over Hillary in his own home state!

4. Aside from the Democratic race, the Repubs have an interesting
dilemma. It seems to be coming down to a contest between the odd couple, hyper-Rudy and laid-back-Fred. I love it that in a Tennessee match-up, Gore vs. Thompson, Gore wins.

On a more serious note, we need a President who will not further divide this country at a time when it faces momentous problems. I hope Al Gore will answer that call.

6. you think GORE is the candidate that will not further divide the country?
I like Gore, but that is just hero worship talking.

8. I admit to hero worshiping, but I think Al Gore has a greater
potential than any other candidate in either party to bring the country together around issues that are vital to our future. I saw a New Hampshire voter on TV saying "I'm holding out for Gore. We're past the time for on-job-training." That's my position too.

We live in a country where 30 percent of the population still thinks Bush is doing a good job. That means we will continue to be divided whoever the next President might be, but I think Gore has the best chance of bringing together the remaining 70 percent who are capable of rational thought.

36. Only problem is that Fred would win Tennessee, not Gore.
I saw some numbers on that somewhere, but I can't remember where (I'm in Tennessee, so it may have even been on the local news).

Tennessee has a beloved Dem governor and a mostly Dem General Assembly so, for the life of me, I can't figure out why we keep sending RepubliCONS to DC on the federal side. :grr:

7. Why talk about Vice Presidents?
Everyone knows Bill's the de facto vice president.

They just need someone with a pulse and doesn't drool for the so-called veep job.

34. Cool. Thanks...
It's a national poll seven months out of Iowa, where I will bet money that Senator Clinton will place a distant third...then we'll see what the perception is.

I plan on going to Iowa a decent amount to do my part for Obama. It's going to be fun!

12. Clinton 46 Thompson 39
Thompson jumps to #2 on their side and he's not officially running yet.
"For Thompson, 57 percent haven't heard enough to form an opinion."

There's a big danger lurking in those numbers.

Southern Grandpa vs. The Senator from New York.

Let's hope McCain is pissed off enough to run a "Unity 08" campaign.

14. Republicans receive media scrutiny?
Bush in 2000 was given a free pass.
Why would the Republican CEOs at Fox, Viacom, Time/Warner and General Electric treat Thompson differently?

go to Act Blue and see how people are voting with their wallets.

:-)
Hillary at ActBlue (all contributions) = $941.00
John Edwards at ActBlue (all contributions) = $3,176,938

traffic is mainly sent through "progressive" blogs so the results at actblue naturally favor those candidates endorsed by KOS and company.

John Edwards dominates money race in South
From Louisiana to the Carolinas, Democrat tops all other 2008 hopefuls

WASHINGTON - North Carolina’s John Edwards says he’s the only Democratic presidential candidate with any chance of winning the coveted South.

If early fundraising is any indication, he might be right.
Counting only Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, Edwards raised $2,723,000. That’s more than six times Clinton’s take of $440,471 and nearly four times the $705,650 raised by Obama, according to numbers compiled by PoliticalMoneyLine.org, an online repository of campaign finance data.

Among Republicans, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney led the way with $1,127,484, compared with $603,723 for Arizona Sen. John McCain and $384,500 for Giuliani.

“For Edwards, he’s a Southern guy and there’s a comfort level there,” said John Anzalone, an Alabama-based Democratic pollster. For Clinton and Giuliani, “it’s kind of like the Pace Picante Sauce commercial: They’re from New York City.”
