Do you have something significant you would like to add to the conversation, or would you rather just point fingers and act like a six-year-old?

14. I think any Dem candidate
who can get Clark on his/her team will have a distinct advantage. My state's primary is late and irrelevant so I'm not getting involved in the primaries, but I will support whole heartedly and fiduciarily whomever the dems nominate. To bring General Clark up on the stage would be an incredible asset.

Al's the MAN.

If he doesn't jump in, I hope its Edwards/Clark, and Al joins the administration in some capacity - whatever he wants - to continue as a diplomat-at-large on the climate crisis, and also be a member of the inner circle on policy questions. I actually think he might prefer that.

But I still hope he decides to hold his nose and jump in. And then just flat refuses to play the game of the media and consultants. Make his them song "My Way."

40. Al Gore would be the best person for the job.
THE LAST TEMPTATION OF AL GORE
By Eric Pooley
TIME Magazine -- May 17, 2007

Let's say you were dreaming up the perfect stealth candidate for 2008, a Democrat who could step into the presidential race when the party confronts its inevitable doubts about the front runners. You would want a candidate with the grass-roots appeal of Barack Obama -- someone with a message that transcends politics, someone who spoke out loud and clear and early against the war in Iraq. But you would also want a candidate with the operational toughness of Hillary Clinton -- someone with experience and credibility on the world stage.
In other words, you would want someone like Al Gore -- the improbably charismatic, Academy Award-winning, Nobel Prize-nominated environmental prophet with an army of followers and huge reserves of political and cultural capital at his command.

No one else gets how the right wing is manipulating reality. Until we call them on that game, we're always going to be playing catch-up. And, if they try to call him on his "crazy" statement from the past, they only bring up what he said.

59. Run, Al, Run -- Send your letters to Gore . .
Send your letters -- asking Al Gore to give Tennessee and the nation another chance -- to: The Office of the Honorable Al Gore, 2100 West End Avenue, Suite 620, Nashville, Tennessee 37203.

----

When asked if Al Gore is going to run, Bill Clinton told blogger Andy Ostroy:

"Someone's got to fizzle. If someone fizzles, then, yeah, he could enter the race. He's got plenty of money, his own money, to do it."

I know that we're all going to be burnt out on everyone else before long.

71. At least till Sept why put up with this negative crap out there?
He is getting so much attention now he doesn't need it and he can just sit and watch Hillary and Obama take the heat now. He doesn't need that, he's had more than enough of it. In fact, its alot that he even has to run. I feel bad he has to deal with the crap Bush has created.

77. Why does he have to deal with it?
He doesn't, and it is the climate crisis that should be getting the attention.

70. I didn't vote for Gore in 2000
I live in New York and felt he was safe here. (I was right) I also felt that he was pandering to everybody but me, he did not "ask me for my vote" and I was pissed at him. I assumed he would beat GWB handily, so I figured I was safe voting third party. (NOT Nader) He got ripped off, and the world pays the price.

If Gore were to run in 2008, I would volunteer to do whatever I could to get him elected. I've always liked him, from the time I read "Earth in the Balance." (I was given an advance copy from a friend of his before it was first released) I feel strongly that he may be the only American who can get us out of the mess that we're in, and help restore our standing in the world. I also believe that he would win in a landslide, probably 60% of the vote or more, if there are no major 3rd party candidates and if the Repugs put up... well... just about anybody.

If Mrs. Clinton, one of my senators, is the nominee? I won't vote for her! Again, she's safe in New York, so I won't have to. I probably won't vote for Obama either. I would vote for Edwards or Clark, but I wouldn't go out of my way to help them.

I know LOTS of other people who feel the same way...

80. Speaks volumes doesn't it?
But don't expect the support to carry over to his work on the climate crisis if he should give the "Sherman statement" he shouldn't have to give. It appears the climamte crisis is just another sound bite used to shake the pom poms.

84. I like Al Gore and encourage his message, but don't forget that beneath the gentle
honorable exterior is a rather wooden persona.

He is very attractive as the humble, victimized, honorable forward-thinker, but don't forget that this is pretty much the depth of his charisma, as you see him.

I like and support the guy a lot, but I don't know if he has the chutzpa needed to tackle the trash the republicans have left (and will of course dish out endlessly if they somehow lose the next election).

I like Al Gore as an outsider making the insiders worry, converting lots of folks to a positive message. Add the burden of the office of the Presidency, and I don't know if he would even want to stick it out (and I wouldn't blame him if he were completely disgusted and bailed, as this polluted system deserves).

He may be more effective against in his current position. People may lose their love of his humility if he doesn't show action in office. His act of disgust at removing himself from the system speaks volumes, and is the right course. The whole thing needs to be purified mightily before people like Al can be of benefit to the country. This is the right direction. To erase the obstacles to beneficial action in the interest of the citizens of the United States.
