Is anyone disappointed in Richardson performance thus far?
In the 2008 race that is. As New Mexico Governor, he's done a wonderful job. I really expected him to get competitive, and compete with Edwards and Obama for the second and third place spot. And instead Biden's looking like the number four, and not Richardson. Richardson hasn't gained any real momentum, and his performance at the debates weren't the break through moments he needed to get his spot in this horse race.

Anyone else think Richardson isn't breaking through, like we all thought he would?

For such a popular Governor with charm and likability, why isn't he doing better?

1. No. Give him time,
He wants to get us out of Iraq ASAP. That will get him the votes.

2. On Iraq, he's got the right message.
But it seems like no one is listening.

I think he needs the opportunity to tell his story of New Mexico's recovery, it's a real vote winner seeing a list of his accomplishments. Once voters match his accomplishment list up to his plan for America, he'll rise in the polls and gain more support. I'm for John Edwards, but Richardson is the real deal!!

4. He certainly would. He's popular and well liked. A lot of appeal.
He's got a great record, he's a governor, he's a diplomat, and he'll appeal to the hispanic community. Plus his popularity in New Mexico would likely lock that state for the Democrats in 2008.

He'd be a great VP.

6. He had a great mailer. It was pretty interesting.
That said, and no brickbats, please, I do think he's running for VP, myself. That's the sense I get.

I could be wrong.

7. Yes. No. Maybe.
:)

I'm not paying a lot of attention to the nominating process, or candidates, but I do vaguely remember reading some good things about Mr Richardson. Governor, former senator(?), former ambassador(?)) a couple othet things like that, so I do think I should be reading more headlines about him.

I guess that means he isn't breaking through, though I didn't really give it much thought.

I've no idea why he isn't doing better, except that the corporate-owned media must not have a lot of desire for him to be President.

I am supportingMr Kucinich again, so I know I'm backing sonmeone widely seen as "unelectable", but IMO he was the best candidate in 2004, and is still the best candidate, so I'm not much interested in the campaigning.

8. Honestly yes, he hasn't done well in the debates
just can't seem to get his message across, all over the place. I have two friends who say they are supporting him, but for how long? Who knows. I haven't made up my mind yet, still evaluating all the candidates.

It's early....

10. Yeah, I wrote on my blog last week
http://commoniowan.blogspot.com/2007/06/richardsons-new-tv-ad-if-you-were-tree.html

I really like Richardson's TV ads so far. I am impressed with his resume and he has taken a strong stand on getting us out of Iraq. However, his less than stellar performances in the debates and on Meet the Press and his habit of promoting Republican talking points have left me wanting more. This leaves me asking, "Gov. Richardson, if you were President, what kind of President would you be?"

11. One of the problems is
that he gets little time in the media compared with the big three.

12. It's early. There's plenty of time
If DU is any indication, Obama and Hillary will create a fatigue among voters , and start looking at reasoned alternatives who can win. Senators don't win, Governors do.

At least, so far

16. Richardson is moving up in Iowa and NH
He is the only second-tier candidate showing any signs of life right now. I think he is slightly ahead of where he expected to be at this stage.

17. I like him, and I know he's a very intelligent man,
but he doesn't come across as sharp as the others. I noticed it during the debates when he seemed to be a bit sluggish.
