Edwards, Gore top NJ Young Democrats straw poll
Edited on Sat Jun-16-07 07:16 PM by draft_mario_cuomo
1) Edwards 36%
2) Gore 28%
3) Obama 16%
4) Richardson 8%
4) Dodd 8%

This doesn't mean much, but it does serve as an indicator of how well candidates are resonating with grassroots activist young Democrats.

The biggest surprise for me was Gore's strength. There were criticisms of all the major candidates--except Gore. He was universally admired, even by those who are backing other candidates.

Edit: This is an unscientific sample of about 25-30 activists. Still, I think it is a fairly good gauge of how young Democratic grassroots activists are thinking. Of course, we should remember this is a small sliver of the population. Young Dems in general likely think differently, as do older grassroots Dems. Non-activists clearly think differently than activists, as HRC's weak showings on the netroots versus her strength in overall polls indicates.

1. Wow, Hillary didn't even show up on there. I still hold out for Gore.

5. Small sample, about 25-30 people.

For the record, HRC received 0 votes.

7. I said it yesterday Edwards is the man to knock Obaba down.
And people think that Obama has the Young vote sewn up? They better think again.
