is Mike Gravel on acid?
what's with that video of his - where he stares into the camera for about 2 minutes,, then goes and throws a rock into a lake, and then walks away,,,and keeps walking and keeps walking .......and walking ....into the void, ........has he resurrected Timothy Leary to run his campaign?

is this guy off his nut or what? seems like the same kind of thing any college freshman with a video cam who thinks they are making some deep existentialist statement would do

I realize that a picture is worth a thousand words...but how many times can one say 'WTF"?

5. Or as John Lennon would put it:
Edited on Mon Jun-18-07 11:32 AM by Ken Burch
"Mike Gravel Said...
I Know What It Is To Be Dead...
I Know What It Is To Be Sad...
And Mike's Making Me Feel Like I've Never Been Born."

(Seriously, Gravel lost most of us up in AK when he came out for putting a dome over the state.

15. These are great ads, Gravel is telling us to sit quietly for a period
....of six or seven minutes and listen to nature, listen to the gifts and the blessings we have. Move ourselves away from the chaos, distractions and the insanity for a while. There the answers will come and we will then know the right things we must do.

27. You can always go back to doing what you were doing, but then
...maybe not that your brain is again open to reason, you may want to take the time to check out more of what Mike Gravel has to say. Here is his link:

i saw both of Gravel's ads for the first time yesterday. if they constituted the totality of his campaign, they would, of course, be inadequate.

candidates are obligated to talk to voters about where they want to lead the country.

that does not mean, however, that the "campfire" ad and the "water's edge" ad are not great messages in their own right.

it's refreshing to see a political candidate for high office "stop to smell the flowers". it's refreshing to hear a message that we should just stop, and think, and listen ... we could use a whole lot more of that in our political campaigns and a whole lot less of marketing-scripted, finger-in-the-air campaign slogans ...

there are huge issues that we need to address in this country. for all their million-dollar ads, does anyone know exactly how Obama or Hillary plans to restore real power to the American people? are they sitting quietly formulating a policy on this lofty issue? are they willing to recognize the severity of global warming and, instead of proposing their little percentages for renewables, call for deep and planet-saving cuts in our bloated lifestyles? are they willing to backup their little proposals with clear statements that the climate crisis will be solved if we follow their lead? they aren't even addressing the issue of global warming. either their plans are sufficient or they aren't. the fact that it may be a tinsy weensy step in the right direction is NOT acceptable. life on the planet may very well hang in the balance.

so, i like Gravel's ads ... we all need to sit quietly and think about "the big picture". we need to think about what the questions even are before we go seeking candidates to provide answers. it's time to cast off the chains of the candidate marketeers and start demanding of our candidates that they reflect more deeply on the real problems we face ...

25. Here, here and well said, I believe that is what Gravel has been saying
....in the debates when he is given a question and an opportunity to respond, when he is interviewed on talk shows and although I've not seen or heard him speak except on one lecture he did which was videoed, I'm sure he speaks to the audiences and voters who come out to listen. Gravel has actually said that the big budget advertising by candidates only confuse and dumb down the voters on the important issues. So these ads at least stay within his principles. I like them

but somehow I just can't see Hillary Clinton or Rudy Guill,,Jooli,,,Gil...Whatever (too lazy to spell check), making that video

it takes a special kind of crazy to make a campaign video as off the wall as that one.....

maybe he's running for President of Bizzaro World

perhaps "make waves". I like it. But I grew up in the 70's. I don't have the patience for the other one... which may be the message there.

20. I love Gravel, he makes virtually every other candidate look moderate
He's mowed a huge field far to the left leaving an enormous amount of room for the other candidates to play in.
