The source of the problem
Edited on Sat Jun-23-07 10:38 AM by Stargazer99
From what I'm reading on the board...some people are finally getting it! The wealthy are the problem.
They are running the country...but the common man thinks he is running it.
So many times as I help low income people with their tax returns and I must ask that question about directing the $3 to the presidential election campaign fund I get the response "NO! they have enough money already." I'm not allowed to explain my point of view to them. The poor and low-income do not understand if campaigns were totally federally funded and no personal/corporate/business funds were allowed THE RICH would have the rug pulled out from under them. The Republican/conservative want to keep the common man dumbed down, that way the common man can be manipulated more easily...just take a look at the cuts in the Pell grants and the educational loan shark scandals...sucking the blood out of the lower and middle income citizens. There is nothing wrong with wealth, but the way it is used...it should be used FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL.

1. They have a point
until the law is changed to get dirty money out of campaigns and make them 100% publicly funded, those men DO have enough money and no poor person who is counting on a tax refund to pay off bills and get his kids their first new pair of shoes in a year should be asked to send three dollars of it to rich men running for office on corporate money.

You've put the cart before the horse, here. First, get the dirty money OUT. Next, get the public money IN.

Wealthy white collar psychopaths and their enablers run the country. It's the same old saw, the divine right of kings dressed up as "capitalism".

Parable of the Box
The box is full of salmon, and a man sits atop the box. Long ago this man hired armed guards to keep anyone from eating his fish. The many people who sit next to the empty river starve to death. But they do not die of starvation. They die of a belief. Everyone believes that the man atop the box owns the fish. The soldiers believe it, and they will kill to protect the illusion. The others believe it enough that they are willing to starve. But the truth is that there is a box, there is an emptied river, there is a man sitting atop the box, there are guns, and there are starving people.

3. Greed is the source ...
unnecessary wealth and poverty are the results. Net profits always go from bottom to top.
