Senators miss votes while out on the campaign trail
Senators seeking the White House can talk the talk. Voting the vote is not so easy.

The candidates have made varying efforts to be in Washington for the 228 Senate votes so far this year...

Hillary Clinton has been the star pupil in the class of senators vying to be president when it comes to voting. She's missed just five votes since January.

Barack Obama (ber-AHK' oh-BAH'-muh) has missed ten percent of votes so far this year.

He had missed only three through March, but the Illinois Democrat's absenteeism picked up in April, when he missed four. Last month Obama missed six, and he's been absent for ten so far this month.

1. Kind of shows you what's most important, doesn't it?

Campaign first, the American people after that.

Of course, we really have nothing going on in our country right now that is of any importance, so missing a few votes is really no biggie...

After all, we can depend on the Executive Branch to look after things in the absence of Congress...

:sarcasm:

2. The absolute worst is John McCain. That guy has basically
quit the Senate. I understand missing some votes when you are campaigning but last I heard he has missed 50% of the votes. Arizona should demand a recall, since their senator won't do his job.

3. McCain doesn't want his voting record to come out, so he isn't voting

4. Barack Obama (ber-AHK' oh-BAH'-muh) ? What?
What is up with that?

By the way, have any of the democratic senatorial candidates missed a vote where their vote actually mattered?

7. No shit. That's bizarre.
I think it's something the website must commonly do, as I looked around and noticed it in a couple of other articles. The other names I saw with a pronunciation key weren't high profile US presidential candidates, though.

I don't recall this ever being common practice for the AP.

6. Poor guy is in over his head..
Imagine if the VRW were gearing up to Impeach him. He'd probably crack under all the pressure.

8. It might be better if Hillary missed a few more votes...
just think of some of the gems she has voted for or against during her time in the senate. (ie IWR and her support of daisy cutters to be used on civilians)
