Can Cheney be made "A Man Without a Country" ?

If he is impeached before and separately from Dubya, he will be pardoned for any and all crimes he may have committed while Vice-President.

Is there any way he could be stripped of his citizenship and cast off into the world so seek asylum (how ironic and appropriate) somewhere else. Maybe Qatar with his Halliburton cronies.

and they'll live happily ever after in a country which has no reciprocating extradition treaty with the US. bush will fly out an hour after the next inauguration.

2. Can the president pardon the removal from office of his own VP?
I don't think so. But, were Cheney to be convicted of, or even just indicted for, his crimes by a regular court, Bush could pardon him. Maybe criminal indictments of Bush and all of his thugs needs to wait until Bush leaves office. Impeach. Remove. Prosecute.

7. US Constitution, Article 2, Section 2.
The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

The 14th Amendment states in part, " All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." Because he was born in the US, any effort to strip him of citizenship would be a direct violation of the 14th Amendment.

6. ISTR there's a provision in the Patriot Act
that allows the President to revoke anyone's citizenship. Blatantly unconstitutional, of course, but since when has that ever stopped Bush?

10. According to washingtonpost.com, some Republicans want Dick out
Dick is such a liability that a number of people in the GOP want him out of the VP slot. Some of them want to get Fred Thompson in the VP slot to give him a boost in 2008.

Right now, I think it's better for him to stay, because his presence will continue to cast the Republicans in an unfavorable light. He's an very big inconvenient truth for the GOP.
