Hillary on the School Desegregation Case
"Today, the Court turned its back on the promise of Brown vs. Board of Education that students of different racial backgrounds deserve an opportunity to attend school together. At a time when our nation's schools are increasingly resegregating, we should be championing local efforts to pursue integration and reduce racial inequities in schools.

On the eve of the 50th anniversary of the valiant struggle to integrate Little Rock Central High School, let us remember the millions who marched, fought and even paid the ultimate price to help ensure every child in America has an opportunity to attend diverse, high-quality schools."

"These decisions take away the right of local communities to ensure that all students benefit from racially diverse classrooms. Recent evidence shows that integrated schools promote minority academic achievement, and can help close the achievement gap."

1. That's pretty well spot on
The chickens are coming home to roost from the Alito capitulation- and we've only seen the beginning.

3. The felonious five seem to be on
a winning streak. But that is why Bush appointed them.

8. Dupe. Perhaps you & SaveElmer need to get "I love HRC" type threads coordinated between you two?

2. Did you consider this when Reid, Schumer and you were undermining the Alito filibuster
behind the scenes.

Yeah, yeah, we know how you voted. We also know Schumer was doing your bidding and you and the other Clinton strategists wanted to keep your powder dry for when you needed it. Looks like you had no intention wasting any powder on the Bush administration so you'd have plenty to spare for your Democratic primary opponents.

6. Interesting analysis. Perhaps the fix was in?
BTW, nice statement. Makes me wonder which of Bill's ex-staff wrote it.

17. please elaborate
Since Reid, Schumer and Clinton all voted no on both cloture and confirmation of both Alito and Roberts, I'm curious to know more about what they were doing to "undermine" the filibuster.

21. Here in Louisville the ratio system was mandated by a judge, but
Edited on Thu Jun-28-07 02:50 PM by MasonJar
it has been successful and the school system was trying to keep it. Bush should be happy since his guys at the Supreme are eviscerating longstanding policies for the common good. The kids at the school where I teach are happily integrated...are close friends, date and all the etcs.

22. I made a post about the negatives of the Felonious Five decision.
Then I start reading the DU posts and find that this has turned into a Hillary fight. Please do not do that. Some things are just too important. The decisions that this court have made in the past two days are awesome in their lack of concern for the US citizens. How do these criminals sleep at night? Maybe an impeach Alito/Roberts campaign is called for.

Is the perfect term to use also when people try shitting on a candidate who is doing the right thing.

ON EDIT: thanks for your two cents, some are actually worth it.
