What if there was a major terrorist attack here…

So, you can't help but notice how in the last couple of weeks the political wind has completely shifted. The signs are everywhere. The polls about 9/11, and about impeachment are breath-taking. And little things too: on Digg.com, the wing-nuts who just a month ago ruled the place, seem to have all gone into hiding.

But… what if there was a BIG attack here… or a big FAKED attack orchestrated by Cheney's cabal… what do you think the political weather would be like afterwards?

2. I think if a nuke went off here...

it would be utter panic and chaos... then martial law... then... after the martial law was enacted and blackwater deploys... all hell will break loose (because of martial law).

3. whoa! just for the record

even I... even I do not believe Cheney is capable of nuking an American city. Islamic fundimentalists, probably yes. But leave nukes aside for the sake of the question. I was thinking of something on the scale of 9/11 or perhaps somewhat larger. Something, in short, more likely.

1. Al Gore declares he's running.
2. Rethugs and corporate america agree there is no way they are going to lose this election.
2. cheney/rove secretly arrange "the big one" to happen about late August, early Sept. 2008.
3. bush declares martial law.
4. All upcoming elections are cancelled.
5. bush declares himself "president for life".
6. democrats happy they don't have to fix 6 years worth of fuckups.
7. Sheeple can't wait for the next edition of American Idol to begin.
8. That's all, move on, nothing to see here.

7. I can't see Bush staying in office, if there is another attack during his watch.

There has just been way too much incompetence in the White House, to think Bush would be allowed to stay in office after another attack here.

I think even the Republican leadership would call for him to step down.
