Does anybody realize that their south-bashing is responsible for drawing more votes away from Democrats than all the Naders in the world?

We could be running the world right now, if only some of you could ease up on your superiority complexes. People in the South are tired of Republicans, and are ripe for the picking--but this stuff reinforces their ideas about Democrats looking down on them.

2. I agree with you
from the Midwest in a (mostly) Blue State. And I will confess that I have, in the past, taken cheap shots at people from the Southern USA. I was wrong and I won't do it again. Now here's another request; can we stop all the name calling? For instance, the guy's name is Giuliani not ghouliani, limbaugh, not limburger or anything like that, Hannity not insanity, and so on. A person's name is their name and we can just let it be. Make light of their views and beliefs, not the names.

5. Names
Couldn't agree more, Bluzmann57. "Limpballs" and all that reminds me of the cutesy-ass nicknames our esteemed Commander in Chief hands out to people whether they want a cutesy-ass nickname or not. (And yeah, maybe I've got a few issues, as my name is really easy to make fun of, too.)

3. It's silly to brag that only 4 out of 10 people in your state are assholes as opposed to 6 out of 10
I actually meant this as a reply on another thread--I don't know how I ended up making a seperate post out of this (My work is distracting me from my posting!)

But maybe it is worthy of its own thread. I don't want to start another north vs south thing--this was a response to another thread where it was already going on.

But since we're on the subject I'll repeat my line from that thread. Blue states are Red states with an extra city or two in them. Most states are red in the rural regions, and blue and purple in their cities.

What got me the most, was that a Vermonter was mocking New Orleanians with this tone--New Orleans of all places. You can't find a bluer city in the country right now--and why kick people when their down.

It makes me feel like New Orleans has fallen through the cracks--it's seen as a poor black city with a liberal governor by the Republicans, and it's seen as a red state Yokel haven by Democrats. One thing is perfectly clear--outside of scoring political points, not too many people give a *(*^ about New Orleans.
