Freepers, Vitter and that wonderful double standard....
You've gotta admire the sheer determination (or, should we say, 'chutzpah' this week?) of these guys. All it takes to determine forgiveness is whether there is an R) or a D) in front of the name. Read-- and laugh or weep, as your mileage may vary.

There were a few dozen topics on this with plenty of responses, so these are probably not even the best. But still, for your enjoyment may I present to you the Freepers on Vitter's peccadilloes.

**************************************************************************************

And I don't know that paying a woman for sex is as bad as having a 'lover'.

Well ... Clinton was President and being a President and the commander in chief one expects certain code of superior conduct. Vitter is not the President.

A repentant sinner should receive forgiveness.

In this case, if the Senator is truthful in stating that this behavior is behind him, that he has sought forgiveness, then I would not change my vote based on his past behavior. Forgiveness is a good thing.

What he did in his personal life is less offensive to me than an elected official who runs on a less govt platform then goes to Washington and steals my tax dollars and spends like a drunken sailo

you need to get off your self righteous ladder and take a break

“It’s just sex” between consenting adults. It’s an old story.

I thought that the Left wanted Big Brother out of the bedroom but we still have these “pesky” sex laws

The BIG difference is Vitter was sorry BEFORE he was caught.

He’s a conservative Republican. I’m prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. Besides, we’ve ALL done things we wish we hadn’t...

Thankfully, our Heavenly Father has the capacity to forgive them all if true repentence is shown. He asks us to do the same.

Why? He votes the right way. I’d prefer a sinner who opposes baby killing than a sanctimonious pr*ck who supports mass slaughter.

found, majority of callers saying they forgive him and will vote for him again. I hope he does not resign.

...no mention of party. He’s a Dem I take it?

Why is public the place to discuss a politicos sex life ?

1. "Why is public the place to discuss a politicos sex life ?" They certainly didn't have a problem
televising Clinton's sex life or in spending $millions in tax dollars in 'investigating' it!

3. "Besides, we’ve ALL done things we wish we hadn’t..." Well, Vitter seemed to have enjoyed it,
because he did it again and again. He liked the doing, but he didn't like getting caught.

and Vitter said God forgave him, for having extramarital sex with prostitutes many times in several different states over multiple years while running a family values campaign

7. Yeah, how does that "go and sin no more" thing work? Being a Catholic, Vitter
had to continue to go to confession, I assume. Also, as I've said before, did he use condoms in his efforts to procreate with whores from New Orleans to Washington, DC? I can't imagine why he would have sex with other women, except for that overwhelming need, manifested through the Holy Spirit, to produce little Catholics. And was he so irresponsible that he didn't check periodically to see how his brood was developing? Perhaps in his concern, he sought to impregnate them again and again, but it just wasn't working, because that condom kept getting in the way.

8. "He’s a conservative Republican.
I’m prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt."

That pretty much says it all.

"What he did in his personal life is less offensive to me than an elected official who runs on a less govt platform then goes to Washington and steals my tax dollars and spends like a drunken sailor."

:wtf: If this idiot voted for Shrub, how does the irony in that statement not make his head explode?

LOL.
The phone call from Larry Flynt had NOTHING to do with it.
Do these people have access to newspapers?
