Impeachment advocates set sights on Welch (D-VT)
BURLINGTON, Vt. --Emboldened by peace activist Cindy Sheehan's plan to run against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Vermont impeachment advocates plan to put up a candidate against freshman U.S. Rep. Peter Welch next year because he has failed to push for the removal of President Bush.

"There's plenty of issues that we and Peter Welch can agree on, but I don't think we can allow someone to represent us who ignores the fundamental principles that make this country a constitutional republic," said Dan DeWalt, of Newfane.

...

Welch spokesman Andrew Savage said Welch, D-Vt., has been an outspoken opponent of the war and an advocate for restoring "meaningful oversight in Congress."

"He shares the outrage Vermonters feel with President Bush and his administration, but impeachment would serve only as an impediment to ending the war and unify the Republican Party at exactly the time that their unity with the president is crumbling," Savage said.

1. I believe that impeachment is necessary...
to restore our credibility throughout the world. The global community must understand that the people of this country realize what a disaster this administration has been not only for our own country but throughout the world. Impeachment would be a good first step in trying to repair global relationships.

I am from Vermont and I will be very interested in watching how this all unfolds.

2. I am sure the person who challenges Welch
will be funded by Repubs just as Nader was
