Holy Shit! "Ignore" is a powerful tool.
I just put a One Note Johnnie candidate support poster on ignore and the forum is MUCH easier to read. Its funny. I had always thought of 'ignore' as a last resort for a poster with whom you've interacted but with whom you would rather not. I just now used it to preemptively hide threads by this one poster who posts absolutely nothing except news of the poster's candidate's every move and thought. I have never even opened one of this poster's threads, but the titles are off putting. It also makes the candidate wars seem far more tolerable.

Wow.

1. I wish that function would work on real live people.
A neighbor of ours is a Romney supporter.

Yuck.

2. I seem to have this strange ability
I don't read things I don't want to. I know I know people keep telling me thats just crazy. But I swear I actually can avoid reading things if I don't want to read them. Crazy world huh?

12. I have the same ability. My point here is how it unclutters the entire forum.

4. It's the best way to interact with a low level of gastric distress, yup
And the people who don't like it tend to be board bullies (in many cases, not all).

6. What would be interesting, and a hit to the ol' self esteem...
is if we could find out how many people have us on ignore. Ya know, like if you go into your profile and it says "Currently, 829 people have you on their ignore list."

You could find out real quick if the rest of the world thinks you're a jerk. :)

8. I agree...sometimes I think I'm on many ignore lists.
Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I would think if we knew just how many had us on "ignore," we might alter our behavior to be more productive DUers...

Anyone else think this is a good idea? :)

7. I have only ever put one person on ignore
and it is funny, when I come across the ignored in a thread now he is always stirring the pot, making someone crazy. I don't have to read it, just the reactions of the others. I have never been sorry that I used it. Have a good one! KIm

10. I wouldn't do that for someone posting positives about their candidate.

It's the folk who repeatedly post negatives about a candidate that put me off. Haven't ignored any yet, but have considered it.
