I will be voting for John Kerry next year...
I just wanted everyone to know. Kerry is the one that will beat Bush. There's no alternative. John Kerry will be our next president.

3. You may not have the opportunity
and I say that with a heavy heart. Any Dem candidate would be preferable to * (in fact, the future of the country depends on it)-but unless the Kerry campaign does a 180, it doesn't look good.

8. Kerry can't even beat Sharpton in the national polls
How in the Hell is he going to beat Bush?

Why vote for Kerry when we have Clark, Dean, Kucinich, Mosley-Braun and Sharpton to choose from? None of them were duped by Bush as Kerry was, by his own admission.

9. Welcome to DU. Many Kerry supporters here. Don't be discouraged by
the few rabid anti-kerry folks who have nothing but negative remarks about Kerry. They appear just like clockwork on every Kerry thread but add nothing new or important to the discussion.

11. let's see if you could add something important...
why is Kerry doing so badly? Why can't he generate that much interest?

I mena, Kucinich only has a few percentage points in the polls, buyt his campaign is totally grass-roots and most all of his supporters are Dem core or leftist types who were made interested by Dennis' passion.

What about Kerry? He was the establishment choice. He has establishment credentials...establishmment money...establishmment support, and his numbers are close to Kucinich's... How is that? How could he be doing so badly with everything arrayed in his favor?

I think Kerry better generate someth9ing inside of the next few weeks or he doesn't have a chance in hell. And I'll tell you what I've told others: up until recently, I thought Kerry would be the party choice.

14. Kerry spurned corporate pac money and stayed left while many turned right.
Kerry is NOT that popular with the establishment ever since he went after BCCI and IranContra which put many Dems on the spot, too. Not too many of the corporate Dems were crazy about the Kyoto Accord, either, that Kerry worked on for almost ten years.

If Kerry was the early choice for the establishment Dems, then they would have coalesced around him early this year. Instead they divided between Gephardt, Lieberman and Edwards, as well as Kerry.

18. now I think you're inventing circumstances
Kerry isn't the establishment candidate? In what universe? Nobody's backing Gep, Edwards, or Lieberman. Dean is definitely not establishment, and Clark is a late-comer, though probably the choice of people who saw that Kerry wasn't doing anything. Those folks are definitely establishment Dems.

No matter what else, Kerry is not doing that well, and he's running out of time.

19. Maybe the establishment is sitting this one out
Maybe they would prefer to wait till 2008 and not run against an incumbent.

20. Baloney. I didn't invent BCCI and IranContra
or the powerstructure's aversion to the Kyoto Accord.

I didn't INVENT the dispersion of the support to Gephardt, Edwards, Lieberman and Kerry.

Your post doesn't even make sense.

10. Very good
Kerry is moving up in Iowa, and a surprising finish there will likely have a strong impact on the New Hampshire primary.

13. "There's no alternative"
Well, personally, there is little alternative for me, but you posit an interesting possibility in the choice vs Bush, and there is no doubt that Kerry would present the starkest contrast to Bush-
You have a real veteran and war hero, someone who really understands diplomacy and working with the interantional community.
A true liberal who has actually backed progessive legislation and believes in fighting for the middle class. (Witness position on tax cuts).
A true environmentalist who will also fight terrorism by reducing dependence on foreign oil.
Someone who has fought for the civil rights of gays (and others) long before it was popular.

So looking at the big picture, for progressives, there really is no alternative.
GOOD CHOICE!

15. well, QED, then. It's official.
What brought you to this conclusion?

Not that I agree or disagree. I'm undecided & taking a good look at Kerry (& Clark, & Dean & Kucinich). Enlighten me.
