2. The fact that this is even this close is a disgrace.
If this guy were a Democrat, do you think almost 45% would be in his favor to retain his office? No way!

What a bunch of f*cking hypocrites.

5. So...it's OK for repukes to hire prostitutes?
If I remember correctly, wasn't Bill Clinton impeached for having an affair? Vitter should be asked to resign NOW! David Wood, a reporter for CSM said today on MSNBC that essentially people feel that since Clinton and Gary Hart did it, it gives the repukes a free pass!!! What?!! That's insane!

6. Wait; what's the right vote?
I'm all for Vitter remaining in the Senate, stinking up the joint, and watching his Republican colleagues stammer and sweat to explain him away. Meanwhile, the Democrats should take every opportunity to mention him over and over again as typical of the Republican caucus as long as he remains in his seat.

11. The GOP is trying
to convince Blanco she should replace VItter (if he resigns) with a "GOP placeholder" until the election.

WHy would she want to do that? I remember when Tim Johnson was close to death, his creep GOP governnor said he would replace Johnson with a Repug. Gov Blanco has far less reason to be gracious IMHO.

12. He has no intention of resigning.
"WASHINGTON (CNN) — Embattled Sen. David Vitter, R-Louisiana — who has not been seen on Capitol Hill since allegations were raised Monday he used a D.C. prostitution service — will return to the Senate next week, just in time for the first scheduled vote of the week on Tuesday, according to Sen. Jim DeMint, R-South Carolina., who has exchanged e-mails with Vitter."

No problem....business as usual.

13. We'll see what happens as this whole thing plays out
Edited on Fri Jul-13-07 01:38 PM by DesertRat
Despite the fact the hiring prostitutes is illegal, the allegation of his diaper fetish may bring him down. Jay Leno has joked about it for the past two nights in his monologue.
If he stays in the public eye, more details may come out and the jokes will continue. Whether he stays in the Senate or not may depend on how much attention to this he and his family and his constituents can take.
Maybe he should go into Republican sexual rehab like Rep. Mark Foley and Rev. Haggard did. :eyes:
