10. Isn't it flipped already?
If he keeps voting with them. Only on paper do we have the "majority"

I want Patrick Leahy running my judicial committee - at least we'll know we can keep activist judges off of the bench

15. Only on paper? We schedule everything.
We decide what comes to the floor. "On paper," my ass. I'll take that paper.

Only those completely ignorant of the process would think only the votes matter.

21. Feel better?
Edited on Wed Jul-18-07 11:49 AM by insane_cratic_gal
I know most people do, after cut throat insult. I'd be hurt if I had any ego to be wounded over.

Can I point out my ignorance by stating this: Seems to me we are having difficulty getting things passed. So while it's great we can be the "decider's" on what comes to the floor, getting those agendas passed is pretty important too No?
If we can't accomplish the agenda of the voters who put democrats in office in 2006, to end this war, how will 2008 play out?

We can wait another year, but it's going to take a toll, more lives lost, more people suffering, while we continue to play games.

23. Senate
I am with Lynnesinner on this one,
we can wait another year before we boot Lieberwhiner out, we have to get to the 2008
elections and defeat a few more Repubes that are vulnerable, and there are a lot.
Then when we have a comfortable majority in the Senate, we can kick Lieberstooge out to pasture,
him and Lindsey Graham cracker are the Al-Kada terra team.
Kicking him out now would just 'embolden' the Republicans
We have to fight them in DC so we dont fight them on DU
We cant 'Cut Lieberass, and run just yet

:hi:

5. I do think it's time the Dems booted Lieberman out on his butt. He is not
helping any at all. Truth to power. Strip him of everything, and let him wallow in the GOP Cesspool of hatred, lies, and destruction.

This action WILL NOT flip the Senate, they took care of that early in session.

9. I think it's better than doing nothing.
Lieberman is a traitor to the Democratic Party. It's foolish to allow him any privileges at all.

And if Pelosi would get off her butt and start impeachment against Bush/Cheney, they'd be too damn busy covering their asses to do much else. The Dems need to put the pressure on HARD, and KEEP it on. That's the only way. Anything less will allow these tyrants to take our country away from us.

11. that risk is NOT worth the risk of giving Bush control of our judges again
NO WAY NO WAY NO WAY NO WAY.

And Pelosi better keep doing what she's doing. She knows until we start getting repuke senators to get on board with impeachment that any impeachment will only make things worse. Right now the most important priority is getting our troops out of Iraq

26. When did Bush ever lose control of the judges?
And Pelosi is going to run out of time if she waits until she has the votes wrapped up, because that won't be until a few months before Bush would leave office anyway.

She needs to get started NOW, the votes will be there when they are needed.

14. Oh but we made arrangements with the Republicans to not let that happened
Mitch McConnell himself promised he wouldn't insist on the Majority should Lieberman swap.

Tonight Santa Claus is coming over to my house to have dinner and discuss what to get for Christmas and then we're gonna go bar-hopping with the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny

22. Not a smart move
It might feel good, but it would be stupid.

Right now, Lieberman has hitched his diseased wagon to the Dems but if the Dems kick him to the curb he will flip to the GOP and vote for majority leader with them.

Reid has to play Joe's game for right now. Joe is no fool though. He sees the political winds changing and knows that his time is short. The Dems will get more than seats in 08 and Joe will no longer be needed. He will lose his chairmanship then and he knows it.

So, Joe will begin to play the Dems game come Jan or Feb once he has done enough damage by playing with the GOP. He will begin to vote with the Dems and start to disagree with the GOP. He will hope that this makes him valuable again to the Dems so they will keep him in their fold starting in 09.

24. He was on Hannity last night dissing the Democrats.
He was shaking his head and complaining about Dems being weak on National Security. He sounded like a "concern troll".

Hannity had a big grin on his face. He kept egging Lieberman on, and Joe Wieselman happily co-operated.
