Thank you Howard Dean
If the gratitude isn't long overdue then I still think that more gratitude is in order. Dr. Dean's 50-State Strategy still has shockwaves resonating through Washington D.C. and his detractors from the GOP and DLC are forced to admit that things have indeed changed for the better. I have always been of the opinion that the Presidency has been over emphasized and that the ones who serve the nation best are the ones who see that greater changes can be made from outside the Oval Office. Change always starts from within whether it is for richer or poorer or sickness and in health. Dr Dean should be applauded for not only recognizing this but also implementing a solution once derided openly as "the lunatic left".

It has also been my opinion that real power comes from Congress and Dean seemed to understand that elections come every two years, not four. Real opposition parties fight for the good of the country, not make concessions that effectively throw qualified candidates under the bus because their opponent is branded as being too popular or too likeable to be beaten. Change is something that starts slowly and while it is unfortunate that Congress can't do more at the moment, the momentum has completely shifted.

At least we are at the point where accountability is being made and the mantle of high morality is being stripped from a man who would be the cowboy king. Real leadership comes when change is seen on the horizon, as Dr. Dean has apparently seen with the value of the internet. That's where real freedom is, that is where true freedom of the press is. Dr. Dean sees the grapevine effect on a global scale and continues to work behind the scenes. While his presence is not always noticed, the results most certainly are appreciated by a populace that has so long needed to be heard whenever it speaks out and wishes to hear intellectual discourse.

It is something that needs to be repeated: "Thank you Dr. Howard Dean".

2. K&R! Dr. Dean - From The Democratic Wing Of The Democratic Party
He's started the process of taking the party back from the faux-Dems - and we even kicked ass in the first election he managed (unless you happen to be from Mrs. Clinton's camp - Carville claims Dean caused a Democratic loss of "Rumsfeldian" proportions).

6. What
is the DLC? There is no entry for it on Wikipedia. I've been looking for stuff about it since I heard Randi Rhodes say that they picked Lieberman as Gore's 2000 running mate, but have come up with exactly nothing.

They sound evil.

9. The founding of the DLC...
Marked a shift of attention and influence from traditional true blue Dems to corporate America imo.

15. Dean's rebuilding party infrastructures in too many states left to collapse by the
previous two DNC chairs, who showed more capability for schmoozing powerstructure in DC than in organizing and maintaining effective and capable party infrastructure that could be counted on by ANY Democratic candidate from the top of the ticket on down.

Thanks for paying attention to that which went too long neglected, Chairman Dean.
