For the sake of argument...let's say there IS a conspiracy to overthrow the US
Oh, let's say you're another ficticious country....let's say...oh, I don't know, Baudi Sarabia.
You decide you're going to take over the richest, most powerful country in the world.
Let's say you target a prominent family, historically proven to be complicit in previous global domination schemes, say maybe a Bescott Push.
So, you cultivate a relationship with this Push family. You hire the patriarch in your global company, the Argyle Group.
You send your young son, Bandaid Bit Modem, part of the rich Bit Modem family, to bond with the young, frat boy and worthless Serge Push.
You groom Serge to take over, but you need to subvert the constitution to have absolute control.
So, you get your black sheep relative, Uganda Bit Modem, to attack the country, blame it on Uganda's life long enemy,

ah...screw it...I'm tired of typing all this out, you get the drift...

For the sake of argument, say this IS all a plot to take over.

what, exactly, could we do to stop it? Impeachment? If we won't impeach?

just how freakin fragile is this govt. if ONE FAMILY can unravel it all?

2. Going along with you narrative: For one thing it is not just one family.
It is the push family, the modem family and you forgot the house of rabu family. You also forgot all the corporations these families are fronting for (military industrial complex, pnac, etc.) who have both the money and the world power to pull a imperial victory off.

As to what we can do about it: Impeach? Another post here today showed that the Nixon impeachment took at least one year and did not even finish the trial because nicky boy resigned. That did not take into context that we would have to impeach Cheney first. The time line is also off for this stubborn ass dishonest administration because from what I remember of the testimony in the Nixon hearing not many of the witnesses did a gonzo act. They for the most part answered the questions and provided to papers asked for. So that would also take more time.

We need to get a bigger majority in both houses and win the WH. Then we need to deal with the SCOTUS.

My hope is that we have enough real citizens left in the legal branches, military and CIA that they will not let *ss do that. When those people take the oath of their offices they swear to protect the Constitution of the USA not *ss the dictator. They will be called on to uphold that oath if it comes Jan. 2009 and *ss will not get out.

3. Recommending for creative use of language.
(Trouble is, it's not one family. It's an entire cabal of neocons.)

6. hmmm. I recall saying "for the sake of argument"
I guess I'm old and people don't understand that phrase anymore.

us old-timers used it in the oldy times when we had things called "discussions" and "conversations" and "debates", wherein we said, "for the sake of argument, let's say situation A is true, how does this affect outcome B" and all somesuch as that you young whippersnappers.

so, going back to my OP, FOR THE SAKE OF ARGUMENT, if all this is true, what, if anything, can really be done to stop it?

8. In academia, that's "hypothetically speaking"
and, hypothetically speaking, if political opposition figures are assassinated, what can be done? That's a question that has been begging for a good answer since 1963! Personally, I've been considering it since my boss/candidate was shot dead in June, 1968.

Best answer: Register voters.

5. WWII didn't end. The Nazis went to South America...
Where they used their loot to invest in industry so that they could retain power. Some Nazis were brought into the intel community and the space program. Ever since then fascists have worked to undo everything FDR ever did right for this country.

Why are the Bushes so powerful in American politics? Could it be that the family business has been war profiteering since WWI? Samuel Bush was on the War Industries Board and made sure that Remington Arms would make a tidy profit on small arms.

Who has weakened this country more than Frat Boy? We are more in debt. Our military has been sent to fight a war that cannot be won. Our blood and treasure is going down the drain in a war we didn't need to fight. We are despised world-wide. Oh but the super rich are richer and the middle class is disappearing.

November 1963 was a coup and since then I've seen in my lifetime three unelected presidents (Johnson, Ford and Bush), one resign in disgrace (Nixon) and one impeached (Clinton.) Carter wasn't even supported by his own party. Reagan was practically given sainthood though he was responsible for selling arms to terrorists in exchange for hostages and the biggest savings and loan debacle ever. Don't even mention his little illegal wars with Nicaragua, Panama and Granada.

Think back to 2000. Why was Frat Boy the nominee? I think it's because they knew he'd do what they wanted him to do. They put the crown of hero on his head for 9/11 and he gave them Iraq.

7. Actually, a significant bunch of Nazis came here and went to work for the Republican Party
Sponsored by the Dulles, Harriman, and Bush families, many ex-Nazis went to work in the "advertising department" of the Republican party. Several were outed working for Bush Sr.'s committee to reelect. Others still labor in the bowels of the Pentagon.
