one thing, just one thing that this Administration has done in the 6 plus years that a.) Would be considered to have benefited the American people or b.) Would have benefited the country/world as a whole... Just one lousy thing is all I ask for!

16. very true in my case...
history... cause and effect, and how consequences impact whole societies in the most subtle ways has been a real eye-opener. My faith in the evolution of mankind has taken a beating..but on the flip-side my own mind expansion restores it. What is capable in any is inherent in all.

8. donated money to tsunami relief and other things like AIDS???
Does that count? Not like it makes them special or that ANY administration wouldn't have done the same thing.

But it's all I got.

and say, hey my Government really helped me... The only thing they have done is spent the Treasury dry, killed innocent people and tried their damnedest to tear down the middle class in this country...

10. Can't help you...what you have to remember is
that the defining and fundamental principles of this administration are that there is no such thing as the public good and that the only use of political power (other than its own self-perpetuation) is to enable the self-enrichment of you and your supporters and the destruction of your enemies.

17. Aid to Africa- I give credit where credit is due
The president has tripled direct humanitarian and development aid to the world's most impoverished continent since taking office and recently vowed to double that increased amount by 2010 -- to nearly $9 billion.

because his cronies couldn't figure out how to exploit it, but that's the only thing. Well, Laura has nice hair, even if she's too zonked to know it.

20. Sorry, that challenge has been a Thom Hartmann staple for years
With more than a few $ reward, no one has taken the bait yet. Good luck with the challenge, but If I come up with anything, I could use the financial reward. The bank account is getting a bit thin.

21. Exposed the lies of conservative politics, "character" and revealed the risks of going to war.
First off - "the easy war". Let's rethink this military thing all over again, IMO. Maybe it's really not the way to do things...?

While conservatives can suggest that Bush wasn't a "real" conservative, it can now be claimed that there IS no such thing as a "real" conservative - that's it a big fucking lie.

They talk about "smaller government", "personal freedom", "lower taxes" when what they really mean is "bigger debt", "lower taxes only for the wealthy" and "reduced personal freedoms".

Furthermore, I think he's also done a GREAT job of showing us the bullshit of "character". I still hear this crap, even after he's appointed countless INCOMPETENTS and TOADIES. (not to mention the blooming number of republicans who continue to be exposed in sex scandals after running on "character" platforms.)

I'll take a guy who KNOWS WHAT THE FUCK (S)HE'S DOING over one of these people of "character" ANYDAY.

LASTLY, he's shown that PRIVATE ENTERPRISE IS UNABLE TO DO THE WHOLE JOB - GOVERNMENT, *GOOD* GOVERNMENT IS A NECESSITY.

These myth-busting lessons cost us a lot to learn, but considering how entrenched the "conservative" philosophy has been given general acceptance in our media, it makes sense that we would have had to pay a high price to buy our way out of that fantasy world.
