I Just Want To Call Some Attention To A Cool Thread Where There Is Actual UNITY

and respect among Dems who support various candidates in this pre-primary/primary season, particulary draft_mario_cuomo and Tom Rinaldo, and others in this thread. It just gives me some hope that this primary season won't be like the 2004 primary season, and many of us here remember that.

1. I'd like to call attention to just about anybody but him.
There are a lot more people here who on a daily basis try to contribute something worthwhile to the forum. Who put in work and effort and try to debate and discuss things honestly.

They deserve to be called out.

And then there are the obnoxious little children who make it their personal mission to be the ambassadors of distraction and disruption.
I don't think they deserve a pat on the back just because they say 1 thing that isn't obnoxious and devious.

Nothing against you for bringing it up. Just my opinion.

2. Considering How The 2004 Primaries Were, I Think It's Worthwhile
to give positive comments, even if it's "1 thing." I've had my days too, especially in the 2004 campaign.
I was a real idiot (some days anyway). I have learned my lesson.
I don't want to ignore any positive comments, I want to encourage them, especially when directed at other
Dems.:)

8. Ah Dinger
Everyone who was here had an asshole moment or two in the 04 primaries. I have to say though I enjoy your posts and your positive energy here on DU.

From one former 04 primary warrior to another! :toast:

4. Why is it......

... that the media and the political pundits continuously talk about the possibility of VP Gore entering the race..

........but the only places that you ever hear about General Clark potentially entering is on left-leaning websites (such as DU, MyDD, Securing America, KOS, etc...) or on radio programs such as Ed Schultz, etc...

The thing is..

VP Gore keeps saying things like he's "incredibly happy with his life right now and that he has no intention of running"..

And meanwhile, General Clark is out there saying things like "I haven't said I won't run... I think about it every day".

= =

With those two highly different comments, why does the media only mention the person who insists he's not running, and ignore the one who says that he's still thinking about it?

5. Why? Why you ask?
Because Al Gore is an ex-two-term Vice President who was the Democratic nominee in 2000, essentially winning the Presidency although it was stolen from him. Because he did all that after years of high-profile experience as a U.S. Senator, and had been a permanent Presidential front-runner since he first ran in 1988. Because since then he has leveraged his status into his current position as the world's Number One Environmentalist, won an Oscar, and can go to any Hollywood party he wants.

While Wes Clark is an obscure ex-general who has never been elected to anything who was a "flavor of the month" in the Democratic primary campaign before Iowa 2004, whose claim to fame is being NATO commander in Kosovo (Average American: "Kosovo? Where the hell was that? Back in the distant mid-90s? Remind me, who were we fighting against then, and did we win?") -- Obscure General Wes Clark, who has to sign a contract with MS-fuckin'-obscure-NBC or run around to Stalinist fossils like Amy Goodman to get himself airtime (in the most generous sense of the term "airtime.")

Look, Wes Clark is a nice man, and he says a lot of good things. He would have had a shot at the Presidency, IF he had entered EARLY and had been wearing out shoe-leather in Iowa ever since (try to pull a Carter.) When it's David vs. Goliath, David can't be fashionably late. That's why. That's why.
