Edwards: “Giuliani is Bush on Steroids”
Good one, from JE!

Edwards: “Giuliani is Bush on Steroids”

Just got back from an Edwards event in San Francisco. He threw out a lot of red meat — in particular savaging the big oil, drug, and insurance companies — and these deep blue Americans loved every minute of it.

Edwards is awesome on the stump. He knows how to work a crowd into a lather. Today’s event, in a hot, dark SoMa night club was packed to the gills, and you’d have thought it was Bono up on that stage. People were that into it.

The Frisco crowd especially reveled in — and clapped in time to — the Aquarius throwback “Hair” video.

But Edwards saved his biggest bomb for the mini presser afterward, where he responded to Giuliani’s jibe that he and Obama and Hillary, “do not understand a capitalistic economy.”

“What Giuliani is, is George Bush on steroids.” Edwards said. “Giuliani, Romney and the rest of the Republicans running for the nomination are going to give the country four more years of crony capitalism, which is exactly what we have now. We have insurance companies and drug companies and oil companies running this government. They need to be stopped. And Giuliani just wants to empower them.”

1. Edwards is turning into a real attack dog
Guess that's what happens when a trial lawyer runs for President.

I like it.

5. Me too. I like the plain speaking.
I am responding to the red meat. Wish he had let it fly in 2004; it might be President Kerry, no matter what Rove pulled.

I kinda like trial lawyers, too.

8. I suspect Kerry muffled Edwards
Kerry or Kerry's handlers.
Don't want to get into a flamefest about that, it's just my gut instinct -- I won't try to defend my opinion.

9. I'm getting impatient for Gore to run (looks like he won't) so...
I'm starting to support Edwards, I think he would make the best
candidate. I might even make a donation.

I'll support whoever wins the nomination of course, they are
all better than the republicans.

7. This is why, for now, he's my guy.
He's smart enough not just to stay out of intramural dogfights but actively defend his Democratic opponents from ridiculous Republican statements. That's the kind of unity Americans can appreciate.

There's no question he has learned from the 2004 loss.

10. That sounds about right.
Giuliani wouldn't even need an evil VP to turn into a dictator.

He would rename himself the "Supreme Executive Leader" in about 4 days after taking office.

11. Edwards can speak because Edwards is saying what he believes.
Hillary Clinton needs an acting coach to teach her how to speak because that's what she's doing, acting. It's so much easier to speak the truth than it is to lie convincingly.

13. Edwards: 'We have insurance companies and drug companies and oil companies running this government."
Run on that and Edwards will win. It's time to retake our government.

I'm afraid Hillary has gotten way to close to those interests, particularly the insurance and drug companies she once stood up to.
