I swear she used to be quite heavy and wore her hair pulled back in a severe and matronly fashion. She was rather nondescript and appeared often as a guest with Bill Press. Does anyone remember her then?

Unless a man is a white Republican named George W. Bush, he doesn't stand a chance of attaining a national elective office if he's less than outstanding. He also has to appeal to a wide range of voters -- such as white people, who are in the majority.

How is it being inauthentically black to work your ass off, become a hyper-achiever, and be appealing to a broad range of voters? What does this say about perceptions of "authentic blackness" in some segments of the African-American community? Nothing positive, imo.

Can someone define the term explicitly for me? What on earth does she mean? He's a shade too pale on the skin phenotype scale? Or culturally? What, he doesn't listen to enough Barry White? Jeez, what a retarded idea this whole "black enough" thing is. Who cares! What I want to know are what the man's ideas are. On a more serious note, I wonder if John Edwards is "white enough" for me.
