I want a sensibility in the oval office we've lacked since * was elevated. I expect her to be the strongest candidate to face the right wing smear machine - heck, she can laugh at it!
Hillary provides a clean slate for ME players to project their aspirations, which will give us window of opportunity to reverse some of our recent mistakes. She can begin the process of extracting ourselves from Iraqi politics, even as we continue our imperial policy of protecting our "national interest" in petroleum. She's not antagonizing Iran, but will continue our tough talk/teeny stick bluff, pushing off the inevitable day when we face a true nuclear confrontation (again). In Afghanistan, we can again expect a continuation of NATO's occupation, but I'd be truly surprised if she tolerated the outrageous conduct at their airport prisons.
She would be understandably shy about taking on Harry & Louise again - the best I could hope for would be the opening of a national dialog on how little we really care about each other. I wouldn't expect anything that would threaten established economic interests - but expanding CHIPS would be smoother sailing.
We could expand research & development into alternative fuels - in my chemistry classes two decades ago we studied fuel cell technology that still hasn't reached the market. Hillary would be unlikely to expand drilling into wildlife refuges or propose additional off shore drilling in the gulf.
I would expect to see unions have a greater voice in trade talks, but in the end, corporate interests will prevail. Similarly, I wouldn't expect to see any proposals addressing campaign finance nor media consolidation; the system has worked to her benefit and it takes more imagination than I believe she possesses to propose a realistic alternative to the status quo.
In short, she's an establishment candidate w/crossover appeal. I find her a safe choice and reasonable in the current hostile climate. I want reconciliation, not revolution and a national leader who can inspire us to work together for common cause.
