Bloggers unionize for Kucinich??
Cross-posted from Editorial and other articles forum:

The San Diego U-T editorial staff must get a lot of giggles out of their own articles. I don't see the humor, but maybe that's just me. ;)

So we're clueless?

Bloggers union talk: Life imitates The Onion

August 11, 2007

One of the most striking aspects about the left-wing blogs that have assumed a major place of influence in recent years is their unlimited self-confidence. From Iraq to trade to how to win a presidential campaign, these blogs assert that oblivious Democrats, conniving Republicans and the clueless mainstream media just don't get it – that they are mired in past assumptions and just don't understand how the world really works nowadays.

Now along comes a story about some of these lefty bloggers that is so flabbergasting it demands this observation: So we're clueless?

This week, Associated Press reported that “a loosely formed coalition of left-leaning bloggers are trying to band together to form a labor union they hope will help them receive health insurance (and) conduct collective bargaining.”

Um, just whom will they be bargaining with? Do these “left-leaning bloggers” understand that collective bargaining involves employees and employers – and that no one hired them to blog?

Or are they just beginning to edge up to the argument that grateful taxpayers should pay for their health benefits?

Hey, that's how to solve the health crisis: Have every American start a blog and be given health coverage for the effort. We expect this to soon become a major plank in the Kucinich-for-president campaign.

sigh

1. More MSM propaganda
to marginalize the positions of people like Kucinich, which are the positions of a majority of Americans--health care without hassles, out of Iraq, trustworthy elections. This paper is following the old mindset that things like decent health are not rights, but commodities to be bought and paid for. This is an obsolete mindset, as shown by the attitudes and practices of every other industrialized country on earth.

2. Wow, that's such a deceptive title! (the SDU-T, not you!) Kucinich has no connection to the story!
Except for the writer's own snarky reference to his campaign! That's just sheer maliciousness.

3. The UT staff hasn't kept pace.
Andrew Sullivan's angsty-rightie-ish blog is in, what, the Atlantic Monthly or something? And didn't he have a relationship with TIME as well at one point in time? Plenty of leftie blogs are carried in HuffPo as well as print publications too. Doesn't TPM have a relationship with a few MSM entities? I know Marshall is now writing for The HILL, too (which suggests those rightwingers see the lefty handwriting on the wall). ABC news has a blog, the Blotter...

There's convergence going on now with the blogs as well. And that convergence includes major corporate players. This shit started with SALON and others of that ilk, and it's just going to get more and more sophisticated as time passes. There's no turning back. Apparently they don't get that at the Union Trib....

4. The American healthcare industry is going to pull
out all the stops to protect their big profits. They will enlist and use anybody and everybody, and they intend to win. This is why the MSM is so irrelevant now. They are cheerleaders for corporate interests. My sources of news comes from the internet, Huffington Post, goleft tv, Daily Kos, others?
