Who should be NYS next Junior Senator?
I think that Maurice Hinchey or RFKjr. would make a great Senator. Who do you think New Yorkers should vote in to replace HRC when she goes to the white house?

I don't see anybody beatin hrc...
I hope Gore gets in the race - he might have a chance.

Otherwise, I don't see anyone - GOP, Dem, Indy, or combo that can beat her.

21. time alone, time will tell
I can see the writing on the wall. Without another 9-11 to change the landscape (which could then lead to a Jeb or Cheney run), I don't see any way to stop hrc.

The election is a political lifetime away. Hope something changes. I really do.

Another 9-11 would bring down the GOP for sure.

Who is "more experienced" :eyes: then Cheney?

America gets what it deserves. We deserve HRC or Jeb or Ghouliani. I guess we really don't deserve a(nother) Cheney presidency.

26. And the GOP is, according to them, the party that can protect us. Another attack
would certainly show that for the lie that is. And that would finish the GOP.

27. depends on how it is done
The sheeple will blame who they are told to blame. If they can blame bloomberg or some dem, they will.

As someone that tends to be mihop/lihop, I know how powerful fear is.

I don't think bush is blamed for allowing 9-11. I don't think he would be blamed for another terror attack. I think the neo-cons will cast the blame over to us.

Either way, we will either stop HRC from becoming president, or we will be looking for a new junior senator for NYS. I like RFKjr. or Hinchey. I doubt it will remain HRC past 1-20-09. Time will tell.

5. I am not sure she would win the Presidency
Contrary to what everyone says publicly, I don't think a majority of the people would vote for a woman.

That, and her name alone will turn out the right base.

8. Not at all
I am just saying that the right wingnuts will turn out in droves to defeat her and that her negatives are higher than just about any other candidate in the Democratic field.

Bill Richardson will be getting my support.

Personally, I WANT a candidate the right-wing hates.

9. Since Clinton will be senator until 2012, let's wait and see
Senator Clinton will continue her job as Senator after being rejected as nominee in 2008 for President, so I'd think that once 2012 comes around, there may be some new candidates to check out. RFK Jr. would be cool.

38. RFK Jr. would make a fine Senator from NY
or Governor of NY State. He has expressed an interest in that office as well.

As I understand the current law, Spitzer would appoint someone to fill Hillary's vacant Senate seat in 2009 if she is elected President.

Then there would be a special election in 2010 to let the voters of NY decide. So whoever gets appointed would have to turn right around and launch a campaign for 2010. Seems like a lot of running around, but that's what anybody who wants the job would have to do.

Of course, a lot of us think he should just run for President in 2008!:)

41. I could only appreciate RFK Jr as New York's next senator from afar,
Edited on Thu Aug-16-07 07:08 AM by Old Crusoe
but it would be a deep appreciation.

What a tremendous individual he is. Problem-solver, illuminator, parent.

I've put him on a speculative ticket for 2008. I hope no one minds:

40. I hope one or both of the Rothkrugs consider public office soon.
They're attorneys in I believe Great Neck.

VERY astute, intelligent souls, and genuinely compassionate human beings.

Would love to see them as public servants, if they were so inclined.
