Petraeus’ September Report Will Be Written By The White House
http://thinkprogress.org/2007/08/15/petraeus-white-house-report/

The Los Angeles Times reports that Gen. David Petraeus’ upcoming Sept. 15 report on Iraq will be authored by the White House:

Despite Bush’s repeated statements that the report will reflect evaluations by Petraeus and Ryan Crocker, the U.S. ambassador to Iraq, administration officials said it would actually be written by the White House, with inputs from officials throughout the government.

2. If this is true
then that explains why Senator Biden as Chairman of the Foreign Relations Comm is going to Iraq this week to meet with Petraeus before he gives his report in Sept. I think that Biden must know something- like the White House may try to lie about this report. Biden knows Petraeus well and believe me- he'll hit the roof if they try to falsify any information and knowing him- would go public w/ it. Biden doesn't trust anyone in the White House and lately- if you pay attention to his interviews like w/ Charlie Rose- you'll learn alot about what's really going on in DC.

3. Petraeus is Bush's hand picked tool

This "surge" is his strategy. You really think he's going to proclaim it a failure?

5. In his interview w/ Rose
Biden said that he respects Petraeus and doesn't expect him to bullshit about what's really going on over there. Biden expects the truth from him.
I expect this report to come back full of bad shit w/ no political solution attainable. We all know it ain't rosy over there- especially w/ that attack today. Largest casualities of civilians since the war started- over 250 supposedly.

7. Biden can expect whatever he wants ...
But this guy didn't get appointed because he was willing to undermine Bush. What the report will say is that some things are bad and that there has been a lack of progress in other areas ... but that the surge has produced some successes and we need to extend it for another 6 months/1 year/18 months ... in order to secure the gains they have made.

This guy is talking about another 10 years in Iraq. Does that sound like someone even contemplating pulling the plug?

We are being sold another bill of goods ... and we seem like we're ready to buy it all again.

4. I'm glad this was made public
I expected them to use this report to lie and say that things were getting better, since the media has inflated its importance, saying that it is the be all and end all for what we will do in Iraq. If they don't paint a rosey picture of Iraq, I'll be shocked.

I'm glad it's been leaked that this report is being set up as a fix.

6. This move has been telegraphed recently by some of the hate radio jocks.
Hannity was whining the other day something to the effect of "just watch, when the report comes out, showing all the progress that's been made, the Democrats will try to discredit Petaeus as a partisan..." Gee...and that just happened to be right after he and his right-wing cabal of talk radio haters were wined-and-dined at the white house...? Fuckers.
