Unelectability: BS by any other name
Ah, now the big three are beginning to face the 'unelectable' meme. Those of us who support the other candidates can take at least a little bit of satisfaction, but not much, from the fact that they are facing some of the same questions that our candidates have faced for the past several months. You see, the unelectability meme is BS by any other name. Period. And the perpetrators are BSers (perhaps well meaning, perhaps not). Period.

The simple fact is that your vote is yours. What an amazing idea! No one can force you to vote for anyone that you don't wish to vote for. Not ABC, FOX noise, CBS, CNN, Reuters, NBC, AP, UPI, CNBC, MSNBC, Karl Rove, John Edwards supporters, Hillary Clinton supporters, Barack Obama supporters, not even Dennis Kucinich supporters. Hell, not even our Great Orange Overlord, Kos himself, can make you vote for someone you don't want to vote for. Period.

And yet...

But Democratic voters – who will decide whether she becomes the nominee – don’t yet understand how unelectable she is. CNN recently asked 458 registered Democrats who they thought had the best chance of getting elected President, and in that poll Hillary easily beat Obama and Edwards. But registered Democrats don’t have the final say as to who becomes President. That will be resolved by all voters – including Republicans.

And...

Well, its clear now that there will be no other Democrat nominee other then Hillary. After this week Obama has proven himself unelectable. Now, I know that readers of FA are not similar to KOS readers or DummiesU fanbois whom we can all usually find under a rock, so I'm betting you all know what I'm talking about. But just in case there is a lefty crawling around....here is the scoop.

And...

It’s not the $400 haircut. It’s not the 1930’s boilerplate "Two Americas" speeches. It’s not the 28,000 square foot summer home. It’s not the rampant hypocrisies that have characterized his campaign.

No, it’s a fundamental and fatal naivete that won’t play among the electorate who read papers, watch TV or look at the Internet.

Edwards’s latest in a long list of blunders occurred during a speech to the Council on Foreign Relations. He stated that the war on terror was the administration’s "bumper sticker" slogan. "By framing this as a war, we have walked right into the trap the terrorists have set—that we are engaged in some kind of clash of civilizations and a war on Islam."

BTW: Man that was cathartic! :)

The whole point is that some MFer is trying to get you to vote for their candidate by tearing down the others, by saying that your candidate is unelectable. They'll use terms like unified, pragmatic, reasonable, Great Orange Overlord says Ugh, cold, hateful, female, black, southern, lawyer, inexperienced, elf, crotchity, batshit insane, foolish, and yes, even unelectable. But, of course, none of that applies to the candidate that they want you to vote for. They want you to give up your vote without having to give up their vote. It's BS. Period.

Of course, there is a good answer to all of this!

He and Gravel also addressed the whole "great but unelectable thing" by saying, in essence -- "but you're the ones who vote! we're only unelectable if you don't support us." Good point.

Betcha ya don't know who gave us that one! I'll give you a hint. It's the one you really want to vote for because all of the others are unelectable! (/snark, except for the part where you want to vote for him, in case you don't get it)

Stand up for your vote. Vote your conscience. And if you meet any of those folks trying to sell the unelectability meme? Tell 'em to peddle their BS to someone else. Period!
