Drudge Barks, TV News (and some DUers) Bites
From the Columbia Journalism Review:

http://www.cjr.org/behind_the_news/drudge_barks_tv_news_bites.php

Thank you, Matt Drudge, for providing us all with a brief respite from what might have otherwise been yet another ho-hum August day of campaign reporting. Because who cares what candidates are saying about Iraq or Cuba or assault rifles when “OBAMA WIFE SLAMS HILLARY?” (as Drudge casually wondered aloud across the top of his web site yesterday morning). Cat fight!

Drudge linked his teaser to a Chicago Sun-Times column in which a line from a recent Michelle Obama stump speech—”…if you can’t run your own house, you can’t run the White House”—was referenced sans context along with the suggestion (Drudge bait!) by columnist Jennifer Hunter that it “could be interpreted as a swipe at Hillary Clinton.” Drudge linked. Bloggers dissected. And predictably, Drudge soon saw his all-caps question mirrored back at him from television screens tuned to network and cable news. Some examples:

-snipped-

Fox & Friends’ Alisyn Camerota: “We’re more than a year away from the election and the fangs are coming out… The wife of Barack Obama is taking a swipe at a fellow Democrat…Is this a thinly veiled jab, Mike, at Hillary Rodham Clinton and her past marital problems?”

Mike Gallagher (Republican strategist and radio host): “Boy, I hope so. This is fun. I’m on the sidelines watching this. Do you think we can talk Michelle Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton into doing maybe a cage match or mud wrestling competition? This is real fun. Rumor is Mrs. Obama is much more physically agile than Mrs. Clinton but Clinton has her in the strength department. If they start going doing this now — we are only in August of 2007 — imagine what August of 2008 will be like.”

4. Yep, it's disgraceful. But it sure stops us from talking about the real issues
when there's a man made CATFIGHT to spit about instead!!!!!!!!!!

I thought Amy Goodman did a good job of calling them all a bunch of assholes, in the classiest possible way.

5. Golly so bush's affair with a high school classmate, you had a miscarriage
because it was rumored he beat her up. She left town and when she moved back to Texas years later she filed a lawsuit against him. Her husband was beat up, she was told to drop the suit and then she committed suicide sans gun. And he paid to have a call girl's baby, which was his aborted.\

I never saw anything about that in the news before he stole two elections. So if he couldn't control his sexual urges, how come the republicans jumped on Clinton for not controlling his.

What I am getting at is this. Why make a big deal out of Hillary and Bill when bush did worst and nothing was made out of that. It is only because it is Hillary Clinton and they don't want her to get anywhere. Didn't the republicans spend 80 million dollars of taxpayers money investigating President Clinton for White Water and they didn't turn up anything. If he had kept his zipper closed they would never have been able to do anything.

6. The clip of Michelle actually making the comment --

is crystal clear. No hint of even innuendo. This brouhaha was entirely made up, still some DU'ers have been bringing this crap to DU and pounding on Obama over it. Disgusting.

Thanks for posting this. I hope people are paying attention.

8. Why in the heck do DUers even visit his site?
I purposely avoid it because I don't want to boost his traffic and his advertising dollars. I also avoid the Politico which is just a dressed up version of Drudge.

9. The MSM wants a catfight
between HRC and the candidates wives. And Mike Gallagher is a sexist scumbag for even saying that on national TV.
