Obama calls for EASING EMBARGO on Cuba
Unlike the rumors and gossip so readily accepted by some on DU, the real and true story is posted below.
Sometimes it helps to first check out the real story before denouncing someone. Hair trigger anger and all is so unproductive.

MIAMI: Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is leaping into the long-running and often bruising Cuba debate by calling for the U.S. to ease restrictions for relatives of Cubans who want to visit the island or send money home.

Obama's campaign confirmed Monday that, if elected, the Illinois senator would lift restrictions imposed by the Bush administration and allow Cuban-Americans to visit their relatives more frequently, as well as ease limits on the amount of money they can send to their families.

"Senator Obama feels that the Bush Administration has made a humanitarian and a strategic blunder," spokeswoman Jen Psaki said in an e-mail. "His concern is that this has had a profoundly negative impact on the Cuban people making them more dependent on the Castro regime thus isolating them from the transformative message carried by Cuban Americans."

Obama planned to explain his position in an op-ed piece Tuesday in The Miami Herald.

13. The part of the embargo about cuban americans is a very small part! That
is the only part he addressed. Much more important would be for the US to STOP blackmailing other countries into stopping their trade with CUba. The money sent home by cuban americans does not help cuba per se. But Bush has blocked trade between Cuba and hundreds of other countries. literally trying to starve Cuba. Only China and venezuela trade with Cuba now. All other countries have stopped because they will NOT be permitted to trade with the US if they trade with Cuba!
For that reason and more post #3 is correct.

12. The counter-thread from Bizarroland is still trolling.
It's absolutely breathtaking that people just riff on absolute bullshit.

Haters aren't inclined to give a damn about truth.
