A simple solution to the FL/DNC conflict
Florida broke the rules, but we must move past that if we're serious about reclaiming the White House.

The DNC should go ahead and allow Florida to keep it's new primary date, but to be fair, all other states should be given the opportunity to set a new primary date that precedes Feb 5, 2008, if they so choose. That way it will be fair to everyone involved.

1. I don't want primaries in December 2007. I just don't.
If the Florida democrats actually renounced the moved-up primary date and asked for relief from the DNC, they would get it. I heard it's already happened with another state where the state party did act in good faith.

But so far everyone is absolutely determined that Florida dems make no concessions whatsoever and the DNC, and the DNC alone, backs down.

3. Yeah.. That's What They Should Do!! I Can Tell you From First
hand experience, that there was a time when Florida leaned Democratic, but these days I really can't think of ANYONE in this state who has "clout" is actually someone who leans toward Democrats.

I TRIED to stay active with the Democrats here where I live but I found it much too depressing. I thought I could make a difference and volunteered for many activities, but even though The Idiot isn't all the popular.... people talk, but do very little. At least here where I live. Most of the time I end up going to ANY function by myself and those who show up are the same all the time. I give them credit for trying, but even getting electronic voting machines (which had a lot of support) hasn't done much good. Just ask Christine Jennings about how easy it is to "make a difference" here.

4. Let Florida take over and the rest of us shut up.
That'll do it.

7. Actually, I have given up here in Florida.
It is hopeless. The arrogance is unbelievable.

9. Those Of Us Who UNABLE To Move Away From Here Find That
Florida has not only become "laughable" but also so easily manipulated! It's no wonder that people like Bob Graham decided not to run again! There are times that Bill Nelson DOES vote as a Democrat, but he's so DLC it makes me want to pull my hair out!!

ANY time I've tried to voice my opinion or even gotten involved with local politics I come away dis-spirited and disillusioned and feel like screaming! IF you are unable to drive or afford to attend others parts of the state that hold various meetings you certainly get the feeling that no matter WHAT you do, it just doesn't matter!

I belong to local Democratic organizations, but have stopped going to them. Now and again there are people who hold meetings in their home to push for various Democratic issues, but the attendance is low and generally nothing gets done for the most part.

8. We already tried THAT in 2000
Remember?? Didn't work out so good the last time we let Florida design ballots with hanging chads!
