Former Vice President Al Gore set to endorse...
Sen. Hillary Clinton!

Nah, just kidding.

What I meant to say was Sen. Barack Obama! ... uh, no, not him either.

But Gore WILL (maybe) endorse someone during the primaries:

Q: Will you endorse a (Democratic) candidate in the primary?

A: Odds are that I will.

Q: Who?

A: I haven't made that decision yet.

Q: Do you feel some obligation to endorse the wife of your former boss?

A: Uh ... no. I have friendships with her and with the other candidates, and they’re all on equal footing at this point as far as I’m concerned.

Q: Are you advising any candidates?

A: No.

Q: Talking to any?

A: Several of them have called from time to time.

Q: Which ones?

A: I'm not going to violate the privacy of those conversations, but several of them have called regularly. Some have made private visits to Nashville, and I appreciate that.

7. that Al Gore's endorsement, measured against his endorsement
of Dean in 2003, doesn't mean very much - or at least as much as a lot of people in the blogosphere would like it to mean...

I don't think as many people gave his words as much credibility then as is done now. To me that's a critical and relevant difference.

11. No, it wouldn't. It would make me realize that
choosing Lieberman wouldn't be the only lapse of good judgment on his part. We all are entitled to our opinions.

14. To throw aside what you like about Al Gore because he endorsed Hillary is foolish.
Especially if you consider Lieberman his only lapse of good judgment.

The phrase throwing out the baby with the bath water comes to mind.

10. Gore's endorsement of Richardson would catapult him over both Edwards and Obama.
Edited on Tue Sep-04-07 01:38 PM by oasis
He would then become Hillary's chief rival.

Gore's 2007-08 campaign w/ Richardson and get a newly found, energetic audience for the ex-governor of New Mexico.:bounce:

24. Richardson has explained that he was just pandering (warning: this is not from the Onion) --
Here's the quote:

"This was an Iowa crowd — I'm trying to score points, I'm moving up in the polls. So I don't consider that a mistake — that was an off-the-cuff comment, and I stand very strongly behind the fact that Iowa and New Hampshire should be first."

72. I am going to request that you be banned from this DU

You are OBVIOUSLY NOT an informed Democrat. Your hatred and vitriol toward some of the candidates, and your over-exuberant praise of Hillary Clinton shows that you are probably a Republican Party plant here, meant to demean Obama, to insult fellow posters, and to spread links from right wing web pages.

I think you have served your purpose, and you have insulted me at least five times in the last 48 hours, a violation of the terms to which you agreed when you joined.

As soon as I can figure out how to get a request for you to be banned into the moderators, we will see if you will be here tomorrow. You are no Democrat, I can tell, you are a hateful, spiteful, insulting person, whose life is not complete unless you can shit on people who serve this country, and insult fellow posters.

I ask all reasonable people to support me in asking that you be removed from here. You have contributed nothing but absolute filth and innuendo, no facts, and your sources are biased, your understanding of the issues in sorely lacking. It's probably best that you be gone.

You don't want a nation of integrity, you want to bash a 20 year patriot because he didn't teach full time while he worked for the rights of freezing people in Chicago? You are such a transparent poster, who only wants to insult those who don't agree with you....want to display your arrogance, and your lack of compassion.........fine...we thousands who read your posts over the last week know how to size you up for the worthless stuff you do in posting here............carry on!

46. It'll be either Edwards or Obama...
Gore is riding the train right now that is highly critical of the government and "politics as usual." The only ones who have been vocalizing this sentiment the most and hardest are Edwards and Obama. Clinton is out there defending the status quo and whatnot. A Gore endorsement pretty much means he's not running (as if it's not already obvious)...and would surely help both Obama and Edwards in potentially getting some voters who were holding out for Gore.
