you mentioned. Not that Hillary and Wes wouldn't be compatible as a ticket. I mean, she's got the Big Dog in the house. She takes Arkansas on her own. And I have the feeling, as a first woman prez, she may not want a VP who's already been a commander in chief, because it's a role she needs to establish very firmly for herself.
It doesn't play exactly the same way for Obama, being a man, but he could use Clark's help because of the war and geographically and racially. They also seem to have a very similar foreign policy overview. I also think Clark and Obama present an interesting pair because they are two highly articulate intellectuals yet compliment each other in oratory. Obama could use a surrogate who puts into plain talk what he says in higher flown language. They are both extremely well-mannered gentlemen, but Wes could kick some ass out there leaving Obama above the fray, where it does seem he would prefer to stay. And the ticket would take the IWR out of the picture altogether.
Edwards, meh, I don't like to think about it.
I can only speculate, but while I never thought Clark wanted VP in 2004, this one looks more possible to me, because the leading candidates all have issues on foreign policy and national security. Either light experience or failed judgment in the past. Clark helps in both cases. No matter who is the nominee, if they want Wes as VP, I don't think he would turn it down this time. Personally, I'd prefer SoS for him or NSA. He would make an outstanding FEMA director or EPA director or Commerce secretary. SoD, if Congress were to give him an exception, is a no brainer. When it comes to Clark, it's a feast of possibilities because he has expertise in so many areas.
