The French didn't hang around after they helped us depose George III
The job of nationbuilding is up to the inhabitants of the new nation. Some fail. Some succeed. I hope the Iraquis succeed, but this is their job now.

and we certainly didn't hang him. We just refused to let him rule us.

In any cause, we never should have gone to Iraq. That was plain stupid and it gets stupider and stupider.

Let's bring the troops home.

2. I wonder what the French would have done if we had started our Civil War right then.
My guess is they would have gotten the hell out as soon as possible, watched us kill each other (if they had a TV) and wonder why they helped us in the first place. (Well they wanted to stick it to George III, so they would still be happy about that.)

4. All right, all right - "depose" was definitely the WRONG word
I was wrong, do you hear, wrong wrong wrong!!!

We did not depose George III, but at least we threw off the yoke of his rule from the American colonies. I am chewing my lip trying to think of how I could have better phrased it.

But, you still get my drift, no?
