Dear Democrats

by Russell Mokhiber

Dear Democrats:

Focus for a moment.

On the war between the American people and the health insurance industry.

Today, your likely standard bearer for President, the woman who would vanquish those corporate Republicans from the White House, one corporate Democratic Senator from New York, Hillary Clinton, will announce her health care plan.

It will not be single payer.

It will not be Canadian-style cradle to grave, everybody in, nobody out, Medicare for all.

No, that would drive Hillary’s key financial supporters - the health insurance corporations - out of business.

Instead, Hillarycare is a plan the health insurance corporations will love, something that Mitt Romney and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger could love - a plan that mandates that every individual go out and pay for his or her own health insurance coverage - like auto insurance.

You must be covered - or you will pay a fine.

1. As Disturbing As Mrs. Clinton Is...
... Obama and Edwards have plans which are equally devoid of logic.

2. If that's true, that sucks. Let's do that for voting though-make it mandatory!

I've heard/read some criticism, but I need to check out what Hillary has proposed and who is liking it. That will go a long way towards telling me what her intentions are...besides being prez.

5. Romney immediately rejected it completely, so it must have some merit.
I'll reserve judgement.

8. He offered nothing other than to say that it was "the wrong direction
for America". Guys like him figure that if you aren't a millionaire it's either because you're lazy or have a personality defect, either way all your going to get from him is a kick in the ass.

10. In Ma. health insurance is mandatory now
and Romney had been touting that as one of his" achievements"

He is so full of crap, so self-serving I can hardly believe it.

I don't think anyone has been fined or challenged it in court... yet.

11. Hillary's goal is to present an industry written health care "reform" as change
in order to prevent real reform from taking place. No wonder Hillary has become the darling of Wall Street! What a better way to protect the ruling class than to have one of their own appear as a friend of the working class.

Hillary is doing the same thing that Evita Peron did in Argentina. Evita portrayed herself as a champion of the "descamisados" while filling the coffers of her wealthy backers.
