Picture of all of the DNC organizers together for the first time...Cleveland.
Edited on Tue Sep-18-07 01:52 PM by madfloridian
I have so resented my state trying to break the fundraising back of the DNC and its new plan for all the states...that I donated extra when I saw this today.

The Florida Party sent out emails for their members to stop fundraising to the DNC. That was an outrageous thing for them to do. While the party itself is now working to make some sense out of all of it...Bill Nelson is still holding the threat of a lawsuit over the DNC and a Tampa activist has already filed suit.

Lawsuit filed in Tampa

Hubby and I were glad to donate to make up for what our state has done to this 50 state plan.

www.dnc.org

These are the faces of our 50-state strategy -- and they wouldn't be here without your support.

Take a long look at that photo -- those organizers are the heart and soul of the Democratic Party.

This was taken last month in Cleveland, Ohio, the first time all of the organizers were in one place. Most of the time you'll find them in the field working grueling campaign hours -- often in places that haven't seen a real Democratic organizing effort in years. They're traveling to every corner of every state, making sure that the Democrats don't give up on a single precinct in the fight for the White House in 2008.

That's why I'm asking you to stand up by Friday and help support these organizers. We need 2,500 people to stand up and show the organizers that ordinary Democrats support their often thankless work.

These men and women are in your state, right now, working to make sure no voter is left behind. Will you help them?

We all remember what it was like to get out of bed the day after the election in 2004. We wondered what had happened, what we could have done differently, and what we could do to make sure it never happened again.

The people in this photo -- and people like you -- are the better way.

..."It's easier -- and cheaper -- to run a program that takes blue states for granted and writes off red states completely, but that's not the Democratic Party we need. As Craig, an organizer in Nebraska, puts it: "Even if you live in the reddest of states ... the Democratic Party is still going to find you, contact you, and ask you for your vote and support."

Will you be one of the 2,500 people to help fund the organizers that are rebuilding the Party in your state?

1. This was posted at DNC just shortly before noon today...
And over 900 already. So that is a good thing. It might make up for the money that Florida urged people not to donate while they were pouting about not being first.

Al Gore sent a fundraising snail mail as well. Glad to see that. We will also send a check in that envelope in addition to donating online.

I feel so strongly that what Florida did was so damaging to the whole system Dean has tried to put in place.

Email from Florida DEC chairs saying not to give to the DNC or candidates.

3. What a wonderful sight - this type of DILIGENT STRENGTHENING of the party is EXACTLY
what has been needed for so long. For far too long the party infrastructures were left to decay and collapse in too many states, including crucial electoral states like Florida, Michigan and Ohio.

4. I so appreciate someone else posting to this.
Dean and the DNC bailed Florida out with over $200,000 when he took over as chair. They were literally bankrupt here. They say thank you by starting a propaganda war against him and withholding donations.

9. I believe DNC's capitulation to the RNC over the last decade was INTENTIONAL

in Florida and in other electorally crucial states like Ohio and Michigan.

Dean and others on the trail in 2002-2004 saw it firsthand and knew the decay in party infrastructure had to be reversed.

8. I can see exactly what's happening, mf - Dean's hard work is being downplayed and
ignored while the presence of establishment Dems is heralded at every turn.

Remember 2003 and 2004 when Hillary and then Bill's books came out, at the exact times when Dems around the country should have been learning about OTHER Democrats running for president?

The media has chosen TWO TEAMS for this country - the Bushes and the Clintons.

Anyone else is considered outside their area of interest - unless, of course, they can see an opportunity to attack and undermine them.

5. This verifies that some fundraising stays in the states still.
I thought so.

http://www.bluejersey.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=5715

"Gov. Howard Dean, seen here about 2 minutes after his unanimous election a couple years ago as DNC Chair, is coming to the Garden State on Friday, October 5, to raise money for the NJ State Democratic Committee.

Dean's faced down criticism from 2006 DCCC Chair Rep. Rahm Emanuel, and a howling call for his resignation from the DNC Chairmanship from (Hillary Clinton supporter) James Carville. In his paradigm-shifting 50-State Strategy, which seeks to take money and power out of the beltway and over to state and local organizing, Dean's found his first line of defense in the netroots and in the grassroots. And 50-State Strategy means something in New Jersey.

This is breakfast. For $35 bucks, with the money going to NJSDC. Event details here."

I thought that was still happening.

10. Well, ain't it amazing.
:sarcasm:

The figures today really say it all, don't they? Millions for the leading candidates, multi-millions, but very little for the DNC

11. The bigname Dems have it in for Dean, mf. They'll protect the secrecy and privilege of powerful
at all costs - they are one with that power.

Their targets are all open government Democrats.
