Obama's Jena 6 Response Crafted by Jackson's son
I find this silly story about Jesse Jackson's remarks more like someone of an older generation getting testy with the younger generation kind of thing though, now it seems this may not have taken place at all.
Jackson is a neighbor of Obama's in Chicago. And his son is friends with Obama. Case in point is this article.
It's funny as it just points up more to a generational thing.

ABC News' Jonathan Greenberger reports: The campaign of Sen Barack Obama continues to respond vigorously to reports that Rev Jesse Jackson accused Obama of "acting like he's white" in his response to the racially-charged "Jena 6" case.

After first sending around a statement by Jackson reaffirming his support of Obama, the Obama campaign released a statement late this afternoon from the Illinois senator himself saying the "Jena 6" case transcends racial politics.

"Outrage over an injustice like the Jena 6 isn't a matter of black and white," said Obama.

The campaign then noted that Obama received help on his initial response to Jena 6 from one of his national campaign chairmen -- who just happens to be Jackson's son: Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.

5. lol, that's funny
I could swear he mentioned the Jena 6 in Portland too, but I'm just not 100%. But I thought I remember him mentioning it at some point, and being very pleased to hear it. He is very aware of this and it is just ridiculous that Jackson would chastise him. I think almost everybody in the country is shocked by everything that has happened in Jena.

8. Realities
If indeed Obama said it wasn't a case of black and white
that may be just what he needs to say in this large,
still relatively racist country.

How quickly would many Americans dismiss him as another
"resentful black man" if he started complaining about
the mistreatment of blacks by whites?

He has to be very agile be sympathetic to this case without
seeming to side with the students because they are black.
He does this by finding the larger issue,
championing the rights
and equal treatment of all Americans.
