Results Of Ohio Elections Poll Released
Edited on Sat Sep-22-07 09:11 AM by EV_Ares
Survey USA conducted a poll last week in Ohio, pitting the top three republicans against the top three democrats in final elections. And the survey says.....

1. Wow. They sure like their Republicans - with the exception of Fred Thompson. nt

2. Yikes.
Fortunately, polls this far out from the election are virtually meaningless (see Iowa polls prior to the primaries last time).

Ghouliani's background has NOT been thoroughly vetted in the papers yet and Thompson has just started and the Ohio voters don't know what a lazy stupid thug he is yet.

Just the same - wish Gore would announce soon and throw his hat into the mix.

4. You are right about how early it is and we all know things and events along
with candidates dropping out & the possibility of Gore & even Gingrich getting into the race are going to change how this goes. However, it is a good thing to keep tabs on where you are at the present, learn what is driving the poll results. This is an Ohio poll which is in a red state, middle of america with conservative values. The dems can learn from this on what they need to move them on over the top and put some distance between them and the republicans

One thing that amazes me about conservatives. They cling to their religious values and demonize us and look at where Rudy is in the poll. There is no way he fits into the Ohio Conservative values or morality they claim they have. As we all know most of their leaders lack those values as well.

8. Heard some RW Conservative NRA
individuals interviewed on NPR yesterday - they said that they will vote for Guiliani if he is the nominee but strongly disagree with his former stances on abortion and gun rights.

At this point, it appears they will vote their party line no matter how much it differs from their personal beliefs. The only person I think that will cause them to pause in that disconnect is Gore. I hope he runs. I have been told by some RWingers I personally know that they would vote for him if he runs.

The disconnect between what they believe and where their party is headed (the toilet) should be played up by all the DEM candidates. What does country value? What are we paying for? Can we change the dialogue to encompass what matters most and get them beyond their party rhetoric? Hope so.

9. I agree. I think the respect Gore has from most all and what he has
learned would shake them away from their idiocy. However, you know, he has always been involved in the environmental issue and I know he feels strongly about trying to make a difference in that area and get the info out to us all. I think he is really torn between the two (president & where he is right now).

We need him, I trust him more than Hillary who really won't bring us much change from what we have now. Would certainly be better but still she is corporate as much as the republicans.

My other two choices are Edwards and Kucinich. I liked Obama but really don't know what he is doing right now.

11. See. I am right there with you in that analysis...
I like the DEM candidates. But none of them leap out at me yet as the ONE. Dodd appeals to me more and more...

Still hoping for Gore. I think he can multi-task and get more done for the environment if he is POTUS. He currently is running a company or two and traveling all over the world and going in several directions other than the environment now... Taking the POTUS position would perhaps give him a much needed break. :)

3. Although Obama is down against all of them, look at the % of undecided voters.
There is still plenty of time to convince them about what a mistake would be to vote Republican.

18. Yes, Edwards is beating nearly all the GOP'ers
and he's within the margin of error with Giuliani. Good news for Edwards, whatever it is he's doing, he should keep it up.

10. I Would Not Say That
It suggests Edwards and Hillary Clinton run pretty well in OH but both would have a hard time with Rudy... Hillary would have a hard time against Freddy but Edwards beats him fairly handily...Both destroy the Mittster... Obama struggles against Rudy and Freddy but clobbers the Mittster also...

What do I make of all this ?

The election is still far away... Winning Ohio is problematic... And John Edwards is probably our strongest candidate, though he is not without flaws, no matter how you feel about him or the rest of our candidates...

14. I strongly believe those numbers will change
I'm in Ohio, and we went blue in a huge way last year. We will win Ohio, even if by a close margin. No Republican governor or vote-suppressing Blackwell to steal it this time, it'll be clean.

15. You Cold Be Right
The last two elections we lost by a close margin in OH...

I don't see how the GOOPERS can put together 270 Electoral College Votes without either Florida or Ohio...

16. agree
Clinton took Ohio in both '92 & '96; I think the "red state" label was a myth. We were never that red, at least in ideology. We know what happened in 2004, but we'll never know about 2000. This is the first time in many years we'll have a Dem gov. I'm optomistic. :-)

the population...

Since we have a democratic governor,

22. Damn, I was distracted and left for a while without finishing...
What I was basically saying is having a democratic governor means a political infrastructure is in place to aid a democratic nominee...

12. Election Poll
The results scare me. Giuliani is NOT Presidential material It would be bad for the country if he is elected. He would be worse than Bush.

Obama's numbers were surprisng, some of the worst i've seen for him. But I think we're in relatively good shape. The pugs'll end up picking romney, who gets slaughtered by all of our top 3.

19. You could be right. Unlike the Democratic nominee polls..
... their #4 candidate nationally is leading in early primary states. If the polls hold, Romney wins Iowa and NH. He'll also probably win other blue states, too.
