4. If he doesn't think being a Senator is important enough

To do his job when there are important votes, he doesn't show me he think being prez is important either.

Besides, he should have been there and shown leadership by helping get votes for or against amendents.

In stead he is missing in action. Not a good way to gain support.

If it looks like it will be close, senators (especially those on the campaign trail) will rush immediately to the Senate. If their vote won't make a difference they'll stay on the campaign trail.

Don't any of you guys remember this happening to Edwards and Kerry the last time?

12. It's important to go on the record when these critical votes are

on the line. Even if the outcome doesn't change. Obama hurt his cause by not voting on these bills today. Personally, with modern day communication technology, I don't know why a Congressperson can't vote over a secure network from any place in the world.

By the time he found out, it may have been too late for him to return and vote. I wonder how many people voting that he should have been there would say the same for their own candidate in these circumstances. I'm guessing it's somewhere around 0.

I don't think so. So your comparison is false. You're trying to frame it as an issue of whether he had the time, but that's not what the issue is.
He didn't know the vote was going to be today and had an event during the day. So by the time he found out, it was too late to return. That's not true for any other candidate, other than perhaps McCain, who also missed the vote.

Although I wonder if the other Senators didn't cancel their planned events in New Hampshire in order to be in D.C. to vote.

Are you certain they didn't have events planned?

I'm not anti-Obama, I don't have a candidate yet. I actually supported him when he didn't vote on the whole Move-On debacle. But I believe he should have been in D.C. for both of the votes today.

1.Cancel appearnaces at the very last minute, therbyupsetting the people who arranged them

2. Get from wherever you are in New HAmpshire to an airport

3. Get a last minute flight to Washington which proabably involves transferring planes at Boston.

Maybe it just wasn't doable.

He and Biden showed no guts at all on that day.

Although today's skipped vote was less egregious than that, at least he's being consistent in missing votes.
