7. I like how Obama is focusing on the number of donors rather than the amount of money
It encourages more people to donate if they know they'll be counted in that 350,000+ number no matter how much they donate.

be willing to say that the reports of the Obama campaign's demise are greatly and wrong-headedly exaggerated.

This past week Barack Obama sent a volt of energy through a huge crowd in New York City -- a traditionally Democratic city in what's-her-name's home state -- and it appeared evident, at least to me, that this is a genuine and formidable contender for the Oval Office.

I've posted on DU that I felt anybody discounting Obama's odds for the presidency is a fool, and repeat the assertion today.

As Lincoln's address at Cooper Union might have made him president, I believe Obama's appearance before that crowd this past week -- again in the traditional Democratic stronghold of New York City -- might have been a harbinger of future success.

Too early to know for sure, of course. But it felt to me like one of those landmark events in U.S. political history.

There was a discernible voltage to it.
