Edited on Thu Oct-04-07 07:34 PM by Hawaii Hiker
they be able to combine the money they've raised??....What does Obama/HRC have to give back (dollar wise) if he/she doesn't get the nomination?...Could you imagine the resources these two would have under either scenario; HRC or Obama gets the nomination, & selects the other for the VP!....Wondered if anyone could shed light on how this would work regarding the money issue; ie: could the VP candiate transfer funds to the presidential candiate, etc?....

1. I don't think this will happen.
But I don't know the answer to your questions, either.

4. how can you say that with a straight face
obama is no progressive. He and Hillary agree on the vast, vast, majority of issues. Just compare their voting records in the senate. They are virtually identical.

Any differences between Hillary and Obama are stylistc. It's coke and pepsi. Some people prefer one over the other but at the end of the day, it's still soda pop.

6. He would jump at it, and with good reason.
He's a young man. If he doesn't make it this time he has a VERY bright furure, and a person can do a lot of good as VP these days.

15. Agree -
Also, he will be better off if he does not have a longer senate voting record - less to defend.

8. Except that their Senate voting records (for the times they've both been there)
are exactly the same, but for one vote. Their positions on the issues aren't terribly different by any stretch of the imagination.

9. More Hillary is Inevitable meme spread....
Edited on Thu Oct-04-07 08:02 PM by earthlover
She isn't even the nominee, so it is a bit premature to speculate on who would be her running mate.

We could, of course, ask the hypothetical question of: If Obama gets the nomination & asks HRC to be the VP, would
they be able to combine the money they've raised??....

Or the question could have neutrally been asked "could two candidates combine resources after the nomination...."?

The inevitablity meme is alive and well.

11. Yes, the question could have been asked "neutrally", but
I'm just being a realist here....HRC, Obama, Edwards; one of them will get the nomination, & it's a fair & relevant question about the resources...

Howard Fineman sure went speculating in his column today:

10. Can't combine funds
If Clinton and Obama were united together only the presidential candidate could use funds for the election. If Clinton or Obama were to select a very rich person for VP, that person could contribute funds without restriction.

13. IF Hillary is elected President,
I have heard some Supreme Court watchers say that they think she'll nominate Obama for the Supreme Court.

I have no idea if Hillary will even win the Dem nomination, but I'd love for Obama to be on the Supreme Court.

I would love it even more if he were Chief Justice of the Supreme Court!!

14. I've not heard that, but I agree, would not mind Obama at all
on the Supreme Court, or John Edwards for that matter....

Well, first things first - win in 2008 then hope for opening on Supreme Court, don't want to put the cart before the horse..
