Sen. Clinton: Sandy Berger has no official role in my campaign
Edited on Mon Oct-08-07 03:06 PM by DemocratSinceBirth
At the end of an interview with Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton a short while ago, USA TODAY's Susan Page inquired about reports that former Clinton administration national security adviser Sandy Berger is advising her.

Susan asked whether Clinton has any qualms about having Berger as an unofficial adviser to her campaign, given his mishandling of sensitive, classified intelligence documents in 2003?

"He has no official role in my campaign. He's been a friend for more than 30 years. But he doesn't have any official role," Clinton said.

But he's an unofficial adviser, Susan asked?

"I have thousands of unofficial advisers," said Clinton, "and, you know, I appreciate all of that. But he has no official role in my campaign."

4. It Is What It Is
What part of "I have thousands of unofficial advisers," said Clinton, "and, you know, I appreciate all of that. But he has no official role in my campaign." do you not understand?

What did Mr. Berger do not do that eliminates him from offereing his advice to friends he has known for thirty years?

10. Because These Are Bullshit Charges
I'm sure she talks to him but he has no official role in the campaign...

It's not as if Sandy Berger is an "enemy of the state" ...

Some people here are trying to make him into Jonathan Pollard or Julius Rosenberg and it wreaks...

12. I Agree.
however the clinton retread is dangerous territory. The democratic party will survive her loss in the GE. its a shame that bandwagon pays little attention to the middleclass. It will be business as usual.

13. That's a limpbaugh line used regularly on C-Span.
Saying Sandy Berger is kind of like pulling out the 100 year-old story about Ted Kennedy in the right wing fantasy land. There's not a week goes by I don't hear some knuckle dragger call into C-Span and ask "why aren't we talking about Sandy Berger?" They are fixated on him and seems like Barney Frank also. Or anything Bill "BJ" Clinton. Sandy Berger is probably the least ominous person we should be examining right now. Right wing talking points absolutely make my head explode. :puke:

16. I Need To Be Consistent
Sandy Berger exhibited piss poor judgement handling sensitive documents...He committed a misdeameanor, was put on probation, paid a fine, and was publicly shamed... He , however, did not try to alter history or exonerate the Clintons for laxity in the fight against terrorism by taking (original) documents...He took copies!!!

And there is where the whole right wing attack falls apart...

30. He took copies!!!
The Justice Department initially said Berger stole only copies of classified documents and not originals. But the House Government Reform Committee later revealed that an unsupervised Berger had been given access to classified files of original, uncopied, uninventoried documents on terrorism. Several Archives officials acknowledged that Berger could have stolen any number of items and they “would never know what, if any, original documents were missing.”

Karl Rove had a title, a salary and an office.

You can't possibly compare the two.

25. This is sort of like saying...
"I did not have official discussions with that man, Sandy Berger. I never told anybody to discuss anything, not a single time; never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the American people. Thank you."

27. Why would you say you have "thousands of unofficial advisors"...
I see your point. If a comment by the Clinton Team is in any way construed outside of suckupisms, it's merely because it's coming from Repugs.

Nicely played, nicely played...
