Mitt Romney National Security Advisor: "I'd stick a knife in somebody's thigh in a heartbeat."
Retired General James "Spider" Marks, who has just been named a new national security adviser to Mitt Romney's campaign, asserted in a 2005 interview that he would readily torture prisoners to save a soldier's life or stop a terror bomb, saying: "I'd stick a knife in somebody's thigh in a heartbeat."

In announcing the appointment of Marks, the Romney campaign put out a press release emphasizing his "more than three decades of experience in the intelligence field." But according to CNN, Marks also is a teacher of "interrogation." ...

...Contacted by Election Central, Romney spokesman Kevin Madden declined to comment on Marks' assertions or say whether Governor Romney agreed with them. Madden did, however, say that Romney opposes torture, though he also confirmed that Romney supports the use of "enhanced interrogation techniques." Madden declined to specify what techniques in particular Romney was referring to.

2. If he'd bite the head off a live bat at a Romney rally
he'd be just as qualified to be a security adviser as ozzy osbourne.

He already sounds just about as fucked up.

3. How can a retired soldier ever condone such a thing? How can
any half way educated person living more recently than the Spanish Inquisition possibly see a sensible use for torture? Has any valid useful information EVER been extracted from torture? I bet Romney's henchman could find us some witches and heretics we could burn, too.:banghead:

5. "Thigh"?
In the Bible, "thigh" is the euphemism for "penis." Is this a religious fellow?

8. Is it really? Never heard that. You sure? Abraham was all the time
having people touch his thigh. I always thought it a strange custom, but what exactly does it mean then?

12. Yes, Thigh means Penis. But don't forget that "knife" means "mouth" and "stick" means "suck."
And while it may not be a good interrogation method, you could still video tape it and use the porn sales procedes to raise money for the victims you failed to protect while you were busy getting off on sick fantasies of control and omniscience.

7. 3 decades of experience in the intelligence field
and none of it apparently in interrogation, or he'd know that (a) his scenario is fictional and (b) his techniques wouldn't generally work.

11. I think Romney's people were afraid of falling further behind Rudy in the Crazy Gap
By the way, anyone know how many "ticking bomb scenarios" we've had to deal with as a nation in the last 50 years? That is, a situation in which you had a person that you just knew the operational details of a deadly attack plan but would only give it up under extreme interrogation?

Zero. It's never happened.

For the record, I love 24. It's a fun, suspenseful show. A show. A fucking TV show. It's well done, it's intense. It's fictional. It's a damn show. I also liked the first two seasons of Trapper John, MD, but I don't think we should base the country's health care policy on it. Like 24, it's just a show.

Why the hell can't people get that?
