Replaying '04: rumors of election cancellation
I was listening to a local show on NPR the othe day and a caller referenced a Ralph Nader speech where Nader talks about a bunch of towns near Stockbridge, MASS asked their congressman to introduce articles of impeachment and that said rep. replied that if impeachment was tried that marshal law would be imposed and the elections cancelled. I know we heard this in 04 and it seems stupid again. Has anyone else heard this? I know the Nader thing was on the homepage for a while.

4. From the little bit posted there, it seems it was the Rep that said it...
Nader was only repeating / paraphrasing what the Rep said.

5. "marshal" law?
I think you mean martial law....and the same stupid rumors flourished around the 2000 election, claiming Clinton intended to impose it and continue in office...it was stupid then and it's stupid now.

6. I read this
I recall reading this on DU about a week ago. The real reason Congress won't impeach is because they think Bush is BATSHIT CRAZY and will start needless WARS to void impeachment. Or regularly scheduled national elections, for that matter.

MARTIAL LAW, by the way. Better get used to spelling it, because we're getting closer and closer as a nation to living it!
