You have to understand something about my personality: I generally approach people who want to reason with reason, but I mock hyperbole. I meet people on their terms, and it's not an uncommon practice; most people treat their relationships reciprocally like this. I won't type up an essay in response to someone who posts something like the other Nancy Pelosi poll just to get more "Nancy Pelosi corporate whore anti-Constitution blah blah".

...their tactics are ridiculous, that kinda stuff. I think part of the reason that the viewpoints on this site are so skewed with respect to the actual membership of the party are that huge segments are chased away with all the hyperbole and vitriol. An exercise: pick a bunch of random numbers between 1 and 103,000 (there are some sites on the web that will generate them for you) and check out the profiles associated with the user numbers. You'll see a surprising number of people who left before they even posted one hundred messages.

in this party and avoid the fact that not everyone agrees with you. I suspect most are aware of the fact and have made their peace with it.

You probably won't be shocked to hear that I have a different view about the distribution of views on DU. :)
