Wow!!! A whole page full of anti-Obama threads...
I have logged onto DU for the first time in like three months...I guess this was a mistake.... I can't believe the once sided attacks against Obama... Where are the other 20% of dems that support Obama with me.... I think I will find somewhere else to have reasonable campaign conversations... see you all later!

4. I've been on Obama's website most of the day.
I'll probably post more over there from now on. I'll just check DU for news articles and stay the hell out of GD Politics.

Hillary gets blasted here every single day from multiple angles.

This has been going on 2 days maybe?

This too shall pass.

28. I think Hillary will surprise you.
She looks good in quite a few Southern states in head to heads, she protects our NE flank from Rudy and with the right VP pick the West(outside of CA which is a given) is hers for the taking.

Of course there is much work to be done and no time to revel in overconfidence but there is much to be cautiously optimistic about when it comes to Hillary's chances in the GE.

7. There is only one side to this issue
Are you disappointed that a lot of Obama's supporters have decided to lie low rather than betray their own values by associating themselves with elements of the Republican hate machine?

I think the absentees are showing some class.

It if fine to vote for Obama. It is fine to support Obama.

It is, however, not at all fine to defend any aspect of the McClurkin business. Doing so is immoral and corrupt.

I support Biden and Clinton, in that order. Both of them voted for the IWR. I have never uttered one word in support of the war, because I have an actual moral core. The war is WRONG.

I can still vote for Biden or Clinton because as an adult, I don't look to politicians to buttress my personal moral sense. I vote for practical reasons, not as an act of self-expression.

Vote for Obama? Go for it. I have no problem with it. And if he gets the nomination I will certainly vote for him myself.

But to slur and marginalize GLBT DUers in order to advocate for a candidate, as so many have done here? That's wrong.

8. Anti-Obama, or anti-bigotry?
Most people here were WAITING for the explanation. Go back and look at the threads from a few days ago. Oh, he'll explain, now that he KNOWS, he'll get rid of this guy, he'll make a statement, we know it's just a mistake...that guy got more "benefit of the doubt" than any ten candidates have ever gotten.

But then, he didn't come forward, he didn't explain, we knew that he knew, he didn't get rid of the homophobe, he issued a mealy-mouthed statement, and then slapped a white gay guy on the schedule to do the invocation, as though one gay guy cancels out the other homophobic clown.

I'm not hating the guy. I'm just heartsick. I'm an undecided voter, but I've decided that this makes me way too uneasy, and I've all but put a line through Obama's name over this. It's not just the bigotry--if this is a political decision, he is demonstrating PISSPOOR political acumen. If this is a management decision, he has shown me that he cannot lead his own campaign staff. If this is a moral decison, it's a lousy one. He's struck out. It's a shame. I liked a lot of what he said, but he's saying that my friends and a few of my relatives aren't as good as other humans, on the one hand, and then making halfassed non-conciliatory conciliations that bat around the TOLERANCE word, instead of the EQUALITY word.

I can't 'tolerate' that. Not in the goddamned 21st Century.

19. I was sort of leaning towards BO, still undecided, mind you, but this stopped me in my tracks.
I still haven't picked a candidate, but this leaves me with a bad taste. I can't muster any enthusiasm for the guy, now.

I have a cousin (not gay, with a gay brother) who was a fervent BO volunteer in a key primary state, but who as of just this morning has withdrawn support and a monthly recurring contribution (a rather generous one, too) over this issue. Heartsick, too. Angry. Sad.

BO isn't realizing the effect he's having--maybe his staff isn't telling him, I dunno. A lot of his supporters aren't gay, but they have a gay little brother or sister, a gay kid, cousin or what-have-you. To say nothing of friends and neighbors.

You don't tell people that they, or their loved ones, are "less than." It's doubly hurtful from someone who's also suffered the slings and arrows, and knows how lousy it feels to be treated in that fashion.

On edit: Gross generalizations incite all kinds of bad feelings and then other people get pissed off and then all of a sudden it's the Jets versus the Sharks and then dancing and singing will break out and we can't have that.

30. Bigotry and homophobia are unacceptable.
The GLBT community have issues with Senator Obama's stance on the proposed performance by "ex-Gay" gospel singer, Donnie McClurkin. The issues are justified.

It's fun watching you Obama bots and Hillbots tearing into each other, kind of like the Jets and Sharks. You really do your candidates justice. Keep up the good work.

Next will be for you guys to get some guns and start shooting it out with each other. That'll be a real hoot.
